I just read through the thread but I didn't see mentioned here nor by the Pioneer site, as what video processor is being used by this player. I'm currently [been for months] on the market for a BD player, and so far this looks most promising. I wonder about the price though, as I never pay full MSRP and that included my Integra 9.8 pre/pro.
So if someone can PM me street prices it would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Sorry, but I paid full price for the BDP-95FD ( first time in my life I ever paid full price for any A/V equipment and that includes my discounted pruchase of an Integra DTC-9.8 :-)

I don't believe we know what processing chip is in the BDP-95FD - maybe someone from Pioneer can chime in here and let us know what the secret sauce is...

Good luck finding an Elite product at less than retail at any authorized dealer. They have been selling for retail for at least 15 years. That is just the time I have been following them. You can find them online but you loose the support and great warranty they give then. Just not worth it in my book.

Any update on when "in stock" will be? I have had my pre-order in with VE for awhile. I am really anxious to get this player.

I bought a DV-59Avi when it first came out. It's MSRP was 1,500 and street price was 1,300. I paid $1,000 at Tweeter so it can be done and easily, get different stores to compete for your business and they will do so. I saved $900 on my Pro-630HD TV and $425 on my 55-TXi purchased for $3,600 and $1,075 respectively and purchased from Ultimate Electronics. The 94HD I purchased at Best Buy was for $850. So yes it can be done. Avoid mail order or non authorized sales as they are not under warranty. I have returned the 94HD as I was dissapointed in it's BD-J performance and am awaiting a 1.1 compliant player.

Anyone use a BDP-95FD with a PDP-4280HD?

I just bought a PDP-4280HD, still getting things set-up. I'm very intrigued with using a BDP-95FD [primarily] for BluRay releases. I'm very curious how the picture-quality is (1080p/24fps)? Is it advantageous using Pioneer's BD product with their TV's? Or does it not matter?

I already use a Denon DVD-3930CI for standard-definition sources and stereo/multi-channel audio sources. Also just bought a new Oppo DV-980H (because they're so neat for only $200.00).

There is an advantage to using the Pioneer BD players with Pioneer plasma displays, the major advantage is that all of the 8th generation Pioneer plasmas (which is what your model falls into) can accept 1080p24 signals via HDMI and can refresh the panel display at 72Hz, thus giving a "pure" 3:3 pulldown for accurate of film content.

Naturally, there are many "full" 1080p displays which accept 1080p24 signals, but the 8th generation Pioneer panels are, as far as I know, very unique in accepting 1080p24 in both their "full" 1080p panels and also their 768p displays.

I just purchased a 150FD and the 95FD player from Pioneer. I already had the 94TXH receiver. I think the 95FD will be delayed a little bit as they didn't have any in the warehouse. I placed the order any way. If I were to go out to buy a few movies on Blu Ray, are there any suggestions of which movies I should go buy to showcase this Pioneer set up. Next step, to see if I need to replace my B&W speakers. Thanks, Greg

I ordered my BDP-95FD from Magnolia in Las Vegas on Sunday and it should arrive Thursday afternoon (they have the players in their warehouse but not in store yet.)

I have a question about connectivity with this player and non HDMI 1.3 receivers. I won't be upgrading my receiver to an HDMI 1.3 receiver until closer to Christmas (probably the Denon AVR-4308CI) and Im currently using an AVR-4806 (with a 3930CI for SD DVD.) Can I run HDMI into my TV (Mits 65833) which does support HDMI 1.3 (for enhanced color) and run a fiber or co-ax (I dont really want to mess with the analog for now) into the receiver and still receive DTS / 5.1 from a bitstream 'down mix' ?

I read the BDP-94FD manual from the Pio website (95's isn't available yet online) and the matrix shows DTS-HD bitstream will convert to DTS with only core substream output and Dolby TrueHD with only the Dolby substream output. Does the 95 operate in a similar manner? If I hook the player up like this does this mean that DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD will be output from the receiver as DTS / 5.1?

I can live with compressed audio until I upgrade, I just want to make sure Im not going to get a 2 channel output (which would be the case for PCM 5.1 / 7.1) for DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD.

This will be my first step into the Blu Ray world so sorry if the question is a bit beginner :P

So you are saying POTC COTBP took only 38 seconds total to load? Not 22 seconds plus 38 for a total of 60?

The player will internally decode Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus (as well as traditional DD and DTS)

I will keep everyone up-to-date..

Do you know if the player will internally decode DTS HD, for analogue output ?

Also the maximum audio resolution via analogue outputs ( will have to wait 1/2 years for Meridian to upgrade their processor ). I have the Panny at present, which supports 192/24 bit = does the Pioneer also support 24 bit on PCM or limited to 44/48K 16 bit on analogue ?

Looked at the UK 70A manual & seemed to indicate lower res but not very clear & Pioneer UK had no idea !!

That's pretty darn fast. My BDP-S1, even w/ newest firmware, takes a full 2 minutes to load POTC: COTBP.
