I'm sure Robert will have a great deal. He always has awesome prices for forum members. I've bought from him before (HD-XA2) and plan on getting the DMP-BD30 from him as well. Can't wait to find out the price and when they're available.

It's not proper for me to post forum special prices. Take a look at our AVS Forum page, I think you will be happy.

ShagMan, ^^ Yes, but I want to check out his player before making any recommendations. Personally, I lean towards a dedicated player for each format and with prices as low as they are it might even cost less to have 2 dedicated players of your choice.

Robert, I agree with your take on the matter... but keep in mind that for a subset of us, this will (possibly!!) be the first player that can decode and pass DTS-HD Master Audio as LPCM and analog. That's good for the non-HDMI guys as well as somebody in my shoes, having bought a Marantz HDMI 1.2a reciever last year.

If the latest Panasonic player decoded DTS-HD Master Audio, I'd already have one, I just can't justify paying another $1,000 for a reciever 6 months after my last purchase.

Shag;
Just to clarify, you are talking about DTS-HD Master Audio via analog, correct? Because as per product page the DMP-BD30K can do it via HDMI.

Just ordered my BD30 from Robert. THANKS! You always take good care of us fellow forum members.

If anyone is going to buy one of these, do yourself a favor and get it from Robert at VE. They always have great prices and stand behind what they sell after the sale.

Thanks Robert! This will go great with my HD-XA2 you sold me!

Why do you favor two stand-alones? I'd love to get that new Samsung, but I already have an A2, and don't want to take a huge loss selling it and then paying $799 for the Sammy. I think I'll just the Sharp to my rack and call it good. I guess if something goes wrong with one, you still have the other when you send it in for repairs. That's one plus.

I know you are asking Robert, but my opinion is I too would buy 2 stand alones because with the dual player if something breaks you just lost both BD and HD. That is why I used to never like the idea of those DVD/VHS combos. Just my opinion.

This article says Sony and BestBuy are offering US$100 gift certificate for the $399 Blu-ray player starting today (not sure whether PS3 is included). So it's effectively $299 now.

Actually, that article is dated Nov. 23. I'm not seeing any sort of coupon for the PS3 or Sony player for $100. Same deal as I've been seeing. Might be missing it though....been a long day at work.

Go in through the second link listed and then click on the player from the list at the bottom -- that got me through ... although I'm gonna hold out for the PS3 ... I think.

Not quite true. Nest Buy's Black Friday Deal was the 40gb PS3 for $399 or 80gb PS3 for $499 with a free game (NBA2K) and a free Blu-Ray movie (Open Seaon). Not exactly $100 off.

$100 gift card was for the Sony (S300) player and they did have that deal going on during BF weekend at BB.

That Philips Outlet site took an hour from product page to order confirm page, but I finally got it. I ordered a refurbished HDTV CRT from them three years ago for an amazing deal and the site was just as slow. That television is still working great and I know it is well worth it. Plus, now I'm format neutral!

Now I just hope they release a FW update so it can sort out some of the new java issues I keep reading about.
