This is a critical point. I don't normally shop at WM, so I don't know what their in-store selection is like. But looking at their BR titles online, I couldn't find a single one I'd want. I didn't check, but I also wouldn't be surprised to find many duplications between what's available in the 5 by mail, and the selection Walmart has online. Guess the only way to know would be to go by a store before the sale to see if it's worth bothering for.

Kmart has a 20% off an one single item in store coupon available on the net as most of you know.

I took the coupon to Circuit City and they honored the coupon AND beat it by 10% of the difference which made my final sale price for a 40GB PS3; $311.

taken from the Circuit City website:

Whoever you called was wrong. There's a knowledgeable true Walmart insider who has posted some information on this at another forum - and I consider him to be a trusted source. This will be a fantastic deal.

I can't believe Wal Mart would be willing to go so far in giving away 10 free movies. I'm not going to fully believe it until theirs confirmation but if it's real, it will be a shocker for sure.

I recently bought a PS3 several days ago at the SonyStyle store using the card for $100 off and although the Wal Mart deal sounds better, at least I have about a year to pay it off with no interest so this wont effect me to much, and besides, I'm a current subscriber of NetFlix.

If this is true, does anyone see any chance of them ever doing a similar deal on the player itself? Even if just a single day, weekend, or week long sale?

It's 10 Free in store, so depending on the store's selection that's what you get. I have the paperwork about the sale in front of me, it's TRUE. I don't know if the MIR is still going on, but if so that's 15 free movies. The deal is 10 movies that are under $30 with the purchase of an 80GB PS3. So, no Spiderman Trilogy or Close Encounters. I'm guessing they couldn't get a good deal on a player so this is the next best thing. They're even shipping in more movies to stores so that there are plenty available and maybe some that haven't been available in the store before.

Well since you have it there can you tell us is it also good online? or is it in store only? Since my Walmarts have junk for a selection of BD.

I sent in my 5 free movie coupon. One I chose was "Full Metal Jacket" Can anyone tell me if the deal is for the older bare bones edition, or the newer collectors edition?

How is it a sale if it's the same price as it normally is? I don't think throwing in a bunch of movies is a "sale"? I'd rather have the price lowered.

Well 10 blueray movies would be about $300. So really your getting 80gig ps3, a game and 15 bluray movies for $499 pretty good sale if you consider 10 bluray movies and then a game with a retail value of $360. I know I can't wait now, I work at wal-mart and will confirm this by tues. I was going to use my extra 10% off on this system which starts on the 1st of Dec. for associates but if this is true I'll be getting the ps3 about a week earlier lol, and I'll just use my extra 10% for my wifes diamond braclet, its a win win situaion for all concerned lol.

Title says it all.

(I also checked out the Brandsmart website. Gosh wished I lived in FL. Great deals. Indeed a Samsung at $298 (398-100 instant savings) with 8 movies via mail-in.)

S301 at $377 in Samsclub

For those with Costco memberships, they dropped the price on the Sony 301 to $399.

i doubt that the wallmart sale is for 10 free movies, I would say 5 in store and 5 in mail rebate. Plus my wallmart doesnt really care many Bluray Movies to begin with. So I doubt this would be a Huge sale like the 99 dollar hd-dvd player.

I just recently bought a 301 @ Costco for $449. Anyone know if they price-match or have a price protection guarantee?

Not to worry. I bought a Sony 301 from Costco 4 weeks ago at a price of$449. Since they don't price match then just return it, get your full money back then buy it again at the lower price. Also, there's no time limit on returning a blu-ray player at Costco (it does not fall under the 90 day return policy for tvs, cell phones computers and a couple of other items). Costco would be foolish not to refund you the price difference as they would then be dealing with an open box return item while having to turn around and sell you a brand new one for less money ($399).

They don't. To get the better price, you will have to return the one you have for a refund and then buy a new one.

Seriously, I've explained that foolishness to our local Costco several times. There has to be a cost vrs time factor that isn't obvious... or maybe most folks don't know about the lifetime return policy, so the number of returns-and-replace-cheaper are way less than the number of keep-it-at-the-higher-price???

If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.

This is most likely the reason, although I have also heard that for a manufacturer to be able to sell their mechandise at Costco, they agree to take the loss on returned goods. I don't know if that is true or not, but either way it is clear that Costco does not take a loss, or else they would have a price match match policy.

I have asked at my local COSTCO and been told by the local return dept. personnel that any curent purchase of a BD player DOES fall under the 90 day policy. Does anyone have anyhtong in writing to the contrary?

Thank you very much

If I was going to return it I would re-buy the one I returned as I know its a good one. Better the devil you know. Then again, for $50, its probably not worth the hassle of disconnecting it, removing it from my stand, boxing it up, taking it back to the store and reinstalling it.
