the costco website would be a good place for you to start:

"Merchandise: We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. Exceptions: Televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund."

Again, a blu-ray player absolutely does not fall under the new 90 day return policy. Just read the language of the policy. I also spoke with a sales associate at Costco as well before I bought the Sony 301 model. You could theoretically buy a blu-ray (or any other dvd type player) and return it a year later, and Costco would have to take it back and give you a full refund.

Unfortunately, I'll be taking my unit back at some point in time. It's already $50 lower just a few weeks after I bought it. I would bet that this player will be going for under $300 at Costco in the next month or two.

By the way, does anyone know if there is currently a link to a 12% off coupon for Best Buy reward zone members (for this week)? If so, it would be great if I could be directed to the link and print out the coupon.

This also was said by some local Costco personnel during the original HD-D2 player sales last Summer. It was not true then, and is still not true. They will take any DVD player back for as long as you own it, or Costco goes under... whichever comes first. If anyone experiences any hiccups when trying to return one, push up the management line until you get to an employee that actually knows what they're talking about.

If more of us valued food and cheer above hoarded gold, it would be a much merrier world.

I would agree with this. I got my LCD from Costco two weeks ago and noticed that ALL of their TVs/LCDs/Plasmas/projectors had a sticker on the box that stated "90 day return/2 year warranty". I went back last week to convince myself of my LCD purchase and also look at HD/BD players, saw no such sticker on them.

Also my LCD had an envelope attached to it with some other Costco propaganda for prof. installation etc. In it was a card that stated exactly the same info as post #90 above.

My wife was in Costco yesterday and said the BDPS301 is priced at $379, not $399.

Well that is good to know, maybe they will drop their online price soon as it still shows as $399. My closest Costco is 60 miles away and they charge 8.5% tax on electronics . Ordering online gets free shipping and they tax by the area you live in, 4.3% in my case. Every little bit helps

Still undecided between this and the PS3 tho.

I went to Sears yesterday and got the Sony BDP-S300. They were having a 10% off sale so it was down to $359.99 after the discount and still qualified for the 5 free movies rebate. I think the extra 10% deal runs untill Wednesday.

I know I can't wait now, I work at wal-mart and will confirm this by tues. I was going to use my extra 10% off on this system which starts on the 1st of Dec. for associates but if this is true I'll be getting the ps3 about a week earlier lol, and I'll just use my extra 10% for my wifes diamond braclet, its a win win situaion for all concerned lol.

Yes but you could easily get BD's for way cheaper than $30 with all of the BOGO deals out there. I was expecting a better deal than that. I saw the Panasonic at Fry's on sale with 10 BD's for $499 and the included BD's were better than any Wallmart's selection that I have been to.

The PS3 with 10 movies is interesting.

I just wonder if they are adding in the 5 free movies from the mail in rebate, and thusly you only get 5 free in store.

Even if you do get 10 free in store movies, its still not as good as the $399 PS3 40GB plus $100 off via the Sony Card deal, making it $299 with Spiderman 3.

I mean think about it, you can get it for $299 with 1 movie, or $499 with 10 movies.

I think with with the BOGO free deals, you could get more than 10 movies with the $200 you save.

No. It is definitely 10 movies in store PLUS an additional 5 through the mail in offer.

I'm going to get this deal myself from a local Wal-Mart and I don't care what 10 BD movies I get because I'll just keep them in my car and return the ones I don't want, or duplicates if it has to be, when I find the ones that I like.

For those of you on the East Coast -
I was in BJs today and they have the SONY 301 at 279.99 until Nov. 23.
I found this site when I was looking for information about how good it is.
SONY doesn't list it on their site (other than for downloading upgrade software) but they have the 300.
BJs doesn't sell it online and I don't know if is local to my store or all over but thought I'd pass on the information.
I don't know if it's allowed on this site - but is it a good machine??
Thanks!

I know that Sam's Club also offers this model. They dont sell it quite this cheap though. I would be picking one up if it was at that price.

The PS3 deal on Saturday is for 10 movies in the store. There are very specific instructions we have to follow when getting the customers the free titles (the company is getting some kind of credit and to ensure the proper credit all 10 titles have to be purchased in the same transacition, immediately after the PS3, and they are price overidden to $0.00. Stores are getting additional quantities of titles for this promotion. Our store has received a half pallet shipper of Blue Ray movies and we currently have 14
PS3's on hand.

We should have at least 29 titles on-hand because a pricing file has just dropped for black friday on blue ray movies (I personally believe it will be one of the secret items for friday although I cannot verify this). The following Blue Ray titles will all be $14.96 on black friday (the reason I believe it will be one of the secret items is because this is the same price our HD-DVD titles were on the pre-black friday sale earlier this month).

Blue Ray Titles for $14.96 at Wal-Mart on Black Friday:
Stargate
Night at the Museum
X-Men 3
Fifth Element
Final Fan Spirit
Flyboys
Rocky
Alexander Rev
House Daggers
Knights Tale
XXX
Swat
Stealth
Tears of the Sun
Patriot
Blood Diamond
Underworld
Crannk
Layer Cake
Windtalkers
Reservoir Dogs
Last Samurai
Swordfish
Unforgiven
Resident Evil 2
Terminator
Big Hit
T2
Black Hawk Down

One other piece of pure speculation on my part is that one of the secret items on black friday will be a Blue Ray Disc Player (Sony BDP-S300). I feel pretty strongly that these BD movies will be one of the secret items based on the price point and the pre-black friday sales on HD-DVD's at the exact same price point. That previous sale included both the HD-DVD titles and an HD-DVD player. In the past 5 weeks our store has sold one BDP-S300, we have just received 4 of these players and have 12 more showing on the way. For an item that we have have had one unit sold in 5 weeks, to have 16 in the store with no advertising or sales events does not make sense. Knowing that we will be having the BD titles on sale BF, having all of the BD players on-hand, it makes sense to me that they would be the secret items, but it is all speculation at this point. Maybe we will know more tomorrow.

Categorically wrong. It is TEN (_10_) BD movies $30 or less in store immediately upon purchase with a further five (5) through the mail-in offer.

It is only for purchases durning the promotion. If a manager wanted to refund you and re-ring that morning, the system would allow it but they're not supposed to and they're putting themselves at risk.

Not sure how this violates the return policy if everything is sealed?

Looks like I'll have no choice but to return my Sony S301 model to Costco soon. I bought it for $449 a couple of weeks ago. Now I hear it's going for as low as $379 at Costco, and for just $279 at BJ's. Also, I can order the new Panasonic 30K model from Panny's EPP website for just $386.25. A win win situation for me as I would be getting either a better unit (the Panasonic) for less, or save an even greater amount of money by returning my S301 model and then going out and buying the Sony blu-ray player again for way less!
