yeah, I hear you. I kept mine since I saw that Samsung released a FW update allowing bitstreaming of DTS-MA for the 1400, and their comments to reviewers indicated it was coming.

Waiting for my 2012 upgrade...

Well all I wanted to say was why should one go for a Denon of $2k if in far less than that you can have a better performance. There were few issues with Sammy 1400 but after 1.5 FW update users are pretty happy and I am also on the same boat. Though it's 1.0 but at the same time I am not a special feature freak so I guess it works for me. You can easily bitstream HDMA, True HD to a receiver like Onkyo 605 and have full advantage of that.

Am I clear now ?

Do you care for the Samsung Blu-ray decks though? Are their reliability really as bad as the criticism of them says? Are you happy with your 1400?

I suppose I would purchase any brand of Blu-ray player IF it bitstreamed all audio including DTS MA and provided noise-free DVD upconversion.

Yes, I suppose a little clearer, although I still am not getting what you are referring to in terms of the 605; at any rate, let's drop that for a second: I totally get what you're saying in that why spend 2K on a Denon that's coming out when there are other decks that will have better performance for less -- but is this actually true? Will there be an upcoming Blu-ray deck (or combo player) that will bitstream ALL next generation audio AND provide -- at least better -- DVD upscaling performance (than my Panny '10A)? I would -- as you suggest -- DEFINITELY like to utilize my 605's onboard decoders for Master Audio and TrueHD and that is SPECIFICALLY what I bought the receiver for, but I was unaware that the Panny '10A did not bitstream these signals until after I purchased it and the return date had come and gone...

Hi All,
This question has probably been asked a few times already but can't seem to find any threads, however...

What I am wanting to know is what brand and or model of Blu Ray players have the best selection of codecs to be able to play all music and video files at differing bitrates etc?

Ethernet is a must as well as DLNA support.

I currently own a Yamaha BD-S671 which I have been quite pleased with but every now and then I come across files that aren't supported.

I have had excellent luck with an LG 670. Have only found 1 file that would not play, have thrown 1080, 720 and 480 in various containers all have played fine with the latest firmware. Can be had for less than $100 these days.
