Have begun with my first dedicated HT build.
Room: 23' X 11'6" X 7'6"
Soffit : 15" at 6 8" with blue rope lighting

HT is on first floor of Raised Ranch style home with pored concrete floor 2 windows on left side and a 6' patio door ( to be removed ) on the screen wall.
Undecided about removing the windows. Room was a Bar/Pool room in the past and have been working on removing the bar at the back of the room to build an L shaped kitchen with upper and lower cabinets and 24" Magic Chef fridge purchased from HD. The door entering the HT is located on rear right wall even with the L shaped kitchen

Plan is for 2 rows of seating at 17' and 10'6" with a 10" riser. 120" 2.35:1 scope screen is planned Carada fixed on the front wall with speakers on the sides.

I plan to build a 48" H wall at the 17' mark at the rear of the riser and put a 12" bar on the back for 2 or 3 bar stools behind the 2nd row.

Equipment I have:
Panamax PM5300
Denon X4000
Axiom VP150 center
Axiom M22 fronts
Axiom QS8 rears
Axiom QS8 surrounds
Axiom EP350 sub
OPPO BDP 103 Bluray player

Apple TV 3

Vip 3D Theater with RF emitter
TW SA 8300HD with 500G e/sata HD add on
16" ViewSonic LCD720 HDTV Monitor
CEPro 4X2 Matrix Switcher
Logitech Harmony 1000 RF Remote
Grafix Eye 3104
Panasonic AE4000
Back row of 3 Berkline 45033's 2 straight and outside left curved (as it faces the screen)
Front row of 3 Berkline 45033's 2 straight and outside left curved 9as it faces the screen)
Stage to be carpeted in Black with black Dazian Janus fabric on screen wall
Floor and Riser to be Burgundy carpet with walls covered in GOM 701 color undecided but leaning to a Blue and Gray combo

Have already run 12-2 speaker wire
Cat 5e
Hdmi1.3a
Component
Coax sub cables 1 to each front corner
Power bridges for PJ, and R & L subs
3 new 20a circuits for Equipment room, Kitchen area, HT lighting

I am in the process of building the Kitchen area first as we need this for the summer season not to mention I am having shoulder surgery on 5/13 and will be down for a while.

Have to upload my pics to photo sharing site so I can add them to my posts.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Bill

Hey there. From the plan, it looks like you are thinking of curved seating. You might want to reconsider using curved rows of seating, since the center line of your seating is offset from the center of the screen. The viewers at the edge, near your 'aisle', will have to turn slightly in their seats towards the screen, which could cause fatigue.

Look forward to seeing the progress.

Now that I can upload pics here is some of my progress up to this point over the last 3 month I will post more on regular basis.
Next work is to finish the Screen wall with a second layer of Rock and 1" linacoustic.
Stay tuned and any Help or Suggestions is welcomed

Will Get solid wood door

Just need to grout the granite tile

A little molding and possible tile back splash to follow

Awaiting the rest of the equiptment to be installed

Cable management to follow

Need to install powerbridge for subs and projector Epsom 1080UB or Sanyo Z2000

Tough room for speaker placement and hoping I have them in the best areas knowing how forgiving the Axioms are

10" when carpet and pad are installed and should be plenty of room for the 3 Berkline 088's for the rear row

Still to get 1" linacoustic sound treatment if needed?

Soffit loaded with R-19 insulation

Grafix eye 3104 to replace temp dimmers on left for soffit ,Blue rope lighting, stage 4" cans and drop lights over riser wall

Windows to receive double cell blackout blinds to control light

Soffits to get crown to house the blue rope lighting

Still need to build speeker/sub enclousers to be covered with GOM

Sub to go on this right side

Drop ceiling painted with Valspar Night View. Could not sheet rock due to location of plumbing from 2nd floor master bath

Awaiting decision on screen wall to complete stage lighting

Now working on second layer of sheetrock for screen wall. Undecided as to whether I should put 114" Carada screen on wall and bulid a 10" box around it or just build a false screen wall 10" from back to have a flat look wall to wall

I just finished with a second layer of sheet rock on the screen wall and will be picking up a 50' roll of 1" Linacoustic on Monday.
Floor to soffit is 6'10"
Floor to ceiling is 7"5"
109" between the Soffits
138" Wall to Wall
The distance from the present Screen Wall to the back of the riser is 17'3"

I am thinking of putting a false screen wall 10" out from the present one so my speakers can be flush with the screen. Looking to use a 114" Carada BW screen but also thinking SMX but have budget concerns

Carada Frame for 114" (55.9"x99") is 60"x103.5

Looking for some ideas as I am at a stand still and can't make up my mind on what would both look and preform the best in my situation.

Was hoping to get some imput from the forum but I guess my build is just not that interesting as there have been no replies/suggestions since I started to post pics.
Decided to build the Wall out 10" from the existing wall for a seamless look and now need to build the speaker shelves.

Will cover with Black GOM and add 114" Carada Screen Since I have low ceilings the AxiomVP150 will go under the screen angled up

This is where my AxiomEP350 v3 sub will go

Use the alternate sub area for housing the XBox360,PS3 and Wii unless I decide to go with a second sub

I dont think its that no one is interested but the fact that there are so many people posting on the dedicated forums now that there are tons of threads to read through and most do not stay on the front page vary long

Looks like you're on your way to a great smallish space. I like your stage design. It looks like a nice mix of several others floating around the forum.

I can't really make out how the spaces in the picture fit together, could you post a floor plan of the area?

I love NEW technology, it makes the stuff I can afford even cheaper.

That's some serious curves on the ends of the stage, very nice.

Didn't know the 1000 comes without the RF. I though it was a package deal.

Just hope the curves don't cause to much of a problem for the carpet guys but I guess we'll see soon enough
That may be why I got such a good price?

I guess not, I did a google search after and it seems they now come on their own and the RF ext. is a seperate device. I did come up with a RF ext. for 80-90 bucks if you care.

I just remember seeing it at best buy packaged together, maybe it was the 890 been a while.

Having the speakers flush with the wall would definitely be my preference. Gives the front of the room a very clean look, and the speakers don't distract the eye.

I have the Axiom QS8s too. Love them.

Just finished adding my new Sony S350 BluRay player and 16" ViewSonic monitor to my equiptment rack. Haven't done much work on HT as waiting for my outside work load to end with the end of Fall season. Still have not even tested my Receiver and Speakers yet.

Hope to see the prices fall on 1080P projectors now after the Cedia show is over.

Did you use a spray paint for painting the drop ceiling? Also, which style of ceiling tile did you choose?

I gotta say you got a pretty neat build. I love how you can put the equipement on the shelf but still have super easy access to all the wiring in the back room.

God all these treads make me jealous of home owners ... you really can't do this in an apartment. When i get a house the home theater will be put in before the grass is even cut.

Got Plasma?!?! Crush the LCD propaganda!!

Nothing special on the tiles just standard at HD. Just used a heavy nap roller for the painting and it worked out fine. Was going to spray them but would have needed to thin the paint.

I love my 2.35:1 screen, it just feels more like a movie (rather than watching a big TV) and it looks like you have the width in the room to really make use of the wider screen. Smart move getting the projector before choosing a screen size.

How do you like the harmony remote? Is it reasonably easy to use?

I have been using it in my family room controlling a Samsung TV,Sony B-350,SA8300 and 4x2 matrix switcher with very good results after tweeking it. Can't beat if for the price.

Carpet is being installed tomorrow and I just got word from Roman that my 6 Berkline 45033's had just shipped out of TN also so should have them this week. Also ordered 10yds of Dazian Janus Black for the screen wall and lower 1/3 of my walls. Should have some new progress pics tomorrow. Still deciding on the upper 2/3's wall color but am leaning towards burgandy like the carpet or blue. Chairs will help me decide this week. Really winding down now as the 2 year mark approaches.

Finally have some time to post a few updates. Carpet complete but not happy with the quality of the Black carpet on the stage. I guess that is what happens when you leave it in the hands of the carpet guy to pick out the best value and quality in his opinion.

Also finally got my six Berkline 45033 power recliners with lighted cupholder and base rails. Everythin was great untill I oppened the last chair to find the frame had been snapped in half on it and the touch portion of the cup holder did not work. Also after setting up had one chair where the transformer on the power recline did not work. After looking all the chairs over more carefully found another chair where one of the support blocks was cut about 3/4" short and was not attached in the corner. Received them on 2/29 and still working with Roman to get them fixed. First batch of parts was incorrect so getting a little upset now. They are real comfortable but having looked the over so closelly found their workmanship lacking.

Stage carpeted waiting for Sonic XP Duct Liner

Riser carpeted with first two chairs set up

Five of six chairs set up Sixth arrived damaged

Black Dazian Janus on wall behind riser

Side wall with Knauf Sonic XP and polyester batting applied

Side wall ready for Janus fabric

Screen wall getting sound treatment

Berkline 45033 from Roman

Chairs and side wall prepared for Black & Burgandy Janus
