You really need to set up the User memory slots on your JVC with zombie10k's start up guide.
The first user slot you assign for 1080p bluray "2 Low" is
for Rec.790 color profile.
(that's the color profile all 1080 blurays are shipped with)
Projector Mini-Shootout Thread
BT.2020 is the color profile for 4K/UHD/HDR only
, not regular 1080p bluray.
Every time you swap sources you have to swap your color profile (via memory slot) in the JVC menu accordingly.
When I load my 4K Low custom setting with BT.2020
it also loads the appropriate gamma "D" settings
Picture Tone 12
Dark Level 5
Bright Level 4
Those "may" need to be set manually for the first time if your unit did not come with BT.2020
I'm not 100% sure. One final tweak I made for HDR was to adjust Contrast +14, Brightness +4.
That may not work for you though because your room is different, screen is different
and throw distance will play a large part in how bright your image will be.
Once you get that dialed in
you should end up with a user slot for:
2D (regular 1080p rec.709 color profile)
3D (similar but probably brighter, possibly high lamp mode)
4K with HDR and color profile BT.2020
If you add an HDFury Integral to remove the HDR flag
you will want another 4K setting with a modified BT.2020
Regular Gamma at 2.3, everything else similar to 2D Low including the iris setting.
Renamed 4K SDR
Removing HDR from 4K/UHD Bluray restores the brightness to more closely resemble SDR BT.709 bluray,
but has higher definition, wide color gamut, and allows the dynamic iris to function again.
(HDR flag disables the dynamic iris when playing 4K blurays)
...so the fade to 100% black between scenes never really goes black with HDR material, just dark grey.
With the HDFury Integral in the chain, I now get the deepest dark fade to black with a functioning iris.
The Intergral is a "set it and forget it device", never has to be changed and has no effect on regular 1080p content.
For the best 3D settings on your JVC
you'll have to check with the guys in the RS500/RS600 thread that use 3D.
