LOL, neither did I, and there are more pic's that I couldn't even post and more stories than I needed to hear but they will be talking about that one for awhile.... I told my wife now I can't wait for the guys only party and she said yeah right, I get my monthly poker party and that's enough so I guess I can't get what they had...at least when she's in town, anyone have some airline miles I can use to send her away for a weekend

Started working on making cabinet doors today for the shelves behind the bar. Just using 1x3 oak. Here are some progress shots of the first door.

Routered the outside edges with 1/4 round bit and biscuit joined & glued together.

Can't decide what material I am going to add as inserts for the cabinet door, I picked up some metal pieces from HD and some copper paint or I will just used solid copper, here are some shots of the material I am thinking of using.

Couple of shots of the door after glued together. Still have to sand, stain, poly, add the inserts, add the hinges and handles.

While I was waiting for the cabinet doors glue to dry I started back on the pole. Added some trim to the facing. There will be a total of three of these squares on the facing.

Needed a towel rack for behind the bar but not enough room for the traditional straight towel bar you see or have. I picked up a bath robe holder and decided to use that. I was able to find it in a antique copper color that matches the outlets & cabinet door handles.
Used it at the party this past weekend and it worked out great.

Wow lots of progress here, looks like the ladies jump started you a bit. I really like the doors and am a little partial to the copper behind the frames but if you go with the other I prefer the first picture over the 2nd one. I also really like that trim on the pole. It will make it much harder for the strippers to dance though. But is that two different styles of trim?

I am leaning towards the solid copper insert also but I will paint the first one and see how it looks before I make my final decision. I do like how you can some what see thru it and that it has a pattern but not sure how it will look painted.
Not sure what you mean when you said if it is 2 different syles of trim. The trim installed on the pole is all oak just like the 1x6 used on the pole.

I meant what kind of trim is it or is it two seperate peices like one outside peice then a peice nailed inside of it? Similar to what they used to do in older homes with the crown moulding. Anyway About the door I am going to have to make or buy a cabinet door fram for the back of my rack which is in the back of the half wall bar and very visible and I have been thinking of a peice of smoked plexiglass or something along those lines so that you can kind of see through but not totally.

No it is a one piece trim in oak found at HD. I didn't think of plexiglass but that (to me) is more for what your thinking of doing. Does it come in a copper tint

I was thinking the same thing and I think it does come in an amber tint similar to copper. I just forgot the link to where I found it. Another build thread on here they were talking about it and the company had dozens of color options and custom cut as well.

The pole really turned out nice.

And I love the towel rack. It is ideas like that, which can make all the difference in finishing a project, and making it special.

The doors look great too. You definitely have woodworking skills!

The solid copper would bring continuity to the whole project. Yet, the perforated metal seems more practical for the application.

I personally would lean toward painting the first perf. metal and see how it looks.

One thing that is definite, it has to tie into the copper theme somehow.

Thanks for the props, still learning and adapting. The pole I hope turns out okay, trying not to have the same ole pole cover as everyone else. Using ideas from pilasters I see on the internet. I still need to finish 2 more smaller squares (one above & one below) plus the base molding on the bottom and a crown molding on the top when I get the drop ceiling installed.
I wish it was warmer so I could paint the inserts to know what it will look like. I may have to take it to a friends heated garage and see if I can lay a few coats down, otherwise I may wait until spring.

Worked on some more trim work on the pole. Here is the 2nd square of trim. An identical one will be placed above the middle one after I finish this one.

Thanks Scott and welcome, post anytime. I also follow your but haven't posted. I really like your collums you did an might do the same for my room. I also saw the pics of the bar you want to re-create, that bar is just plain sick and can understand why you want to re-create it. Are you going for an exact copy or just using some ideas from it?

Well I've been putsing around a little bit with multiple projects and here are some updated pics of the pole & cabinet doors.

Installed the hinges on the cabinet door...

Test fitted the door...

After staining the door I mocked up the inserts. They will be painted copper and if they don't turn out I will do the solid copper.

Mocked up a solid insert for the pole squares, not sure what I am doing with these yet...this is just testing shots to see if I like it...

Need to take a poll on which insert other people think I should go with.

A. is the top one and B. is the bottom one. I initially liked the bottom one but now that both are painted and in place I kinda like the top one....decisions decisions....

Well originally I would of said the bottom one for its pattern but after painted I do like the top......I think either one would look good. Have you tested solid copper on them? Just curious. I dont think you could go wrong with either of them so thats my vote....lol

Yet now, I think the top is better looking and more functional.
