Yup, you are done, once the wii comes out the work is over.

You didn't hook the Wii up to the projector, did you? Tell me you didn't do that! That would be the final nail in the coffin!

Of course, the more important question is: Would progress on your build produce more or less humorous posts?

I found footage that proves Hanes' lack of progress is due his "participation" in a top secret training regimen.

Calm down, boys!

I know you - like my wife - probably think I've been slacking off lately since I hung the PJ and all, but that's just because you may not fully appreciate how tiring it is just being me.

But not to worry - I don't give up on an unfinished job. Especially when that job is doing nothing!

Besides, do you have any idea how just many movies I've missed seeing over the past decade or so?! I could be at this for a loooooooonngg time.

Hero, schmero, unless there are photos of the non existent progress how are we to know he is truly loafing? If all of us demand to see photos of progress to actually believe progress has taken place should we also demand to see photos of the lack of progress just so we all know he is not trying to mess with us? Makes sense to me.

Waiting to see proof of slackerdom.

Screen shots in an uncompleted room would count.

Good luck with the room, very entertaining read!!!! It looks great so far, and that sucks about the mold issues you had to deal with!

OK - you want the truth? You can't handle the truth!!

Oh wait ... misread that ... you wanted PROOF!

Never mind.

OK, ye of so little faith - you want to see proof of slackerdom? Here ya go: a couple screen shots of my girls reacting to their first glimpse of the new Wii projected from the new PJ onto the fancy new bedsheet in the unfinished HT room. This was the "quick get it set up so we can see it" fire drill on Christmas day. First during the set up:

And once the games were ready to begin.

Stunning quality screen shots, eh? By the time I get a proper screen and finish the room I'll have to figure out how to take decent quality screen shots.

That just leaves me a year or two to figure that out ...

Redeemed? Ha! That's NOTHING! Now for the real shocker: some progress shots!

First up is installing the Power Bridge for the PJ. The first few shots were from a while ago, before the room was painted. The initial before shot showing the 17,537 cables I pulled to the PJ ... "just in case."

The PB unboxing.

A shot of the cables with the drywall marked for the PB cutout.

Scalpel ...

The incision in progress ...

Don't try this at home ...my team and I are highly trained professionals!!!

With the gallbladder removed ...

Much, much later ... with the room painted and the gypsies-in-law moved out ... the actual installation begins ...

... and ends ... for now ...

Stay tuned. Who knows what strange progress one might find in the most unsuspecting places?

Nice! That's alot of Wii!

Do you find that the Wii player casts a shadow during play? I thought this may be a concern for my setup.

I'm sure it varies by room set up. In the pictures I posted above, it is an issue because I just had the PJ set on a file cabinet, about 5' high, so we would get big shadows if the kids stood up in the middle to play Wii.

Since then I've hung the PJ from the ceiling, so that has improved - but not eliminated - that problem, since my ceiling is only about 7 and a half feet high, with about a 13' throw distance, so even with a low profile mount the girls have to either stay back and/or stand a touch off to one side or another to avoid some shadows. So far I haven't heard any complaints from them, so it must not be too bad.

Of course, they are coming from an old 21" SD TV so they are pretty easily pleased right now.

I was also wondering about the shadow issue. Sounds as though it really is not a problem. I will comment on your screen. If you are going to use a bed sheet I have found that you get a better image when using sheets with 400 thread count or higher. The cheap Wally World sheets just won't cut it!

Thread counts?! THREAD counts?!

Don't let the women folk in the house hear you talking about thread counts or who knows what they'll want next - finished floors, no extension cords and doors installed and such?!

Give them an inch ...

6'5"?!

I'd recommend you shrink a few inches. It may not help with the Wii, but it will make Queen and her Little People feel better.

Some more catching up on recent progress ... the PJ mount install.

Try not to get too excited. No step-by-step here ... just the mount installed. Well, actually just the base plate, as the rest of it was connected to the PJ.

And the PJ mounted.

Obviously this isn't the final product, with the loose wires and some patching & touch-up painting still to deal with, but it will do for now until I get to the final finishing stages of the room ... when hell freezes over, and I finally work through my backlog of watching every movie made in the last 15 years.

Yep. It's the age old story ... the PJ goes up, and the tools get put down. Except not entirely.

Reached another milestone in this never ending build: attacking the Last Wall. More specifically, the one remaining wall in the main rec room that had not yet been demo'ed and insulated, much less reframed and so on. Now that my beloved gypsy-in-laws have vacated the premises, I have no more excuses for not attacking this, so here goes nothing.

First, to refresh your memory (and/or scare you) the before shot of this wall (the one with the windows), showing the room as it was recently used by our gypsy-in-laws.

I know that some people like that chic wood paneling style ...

... but I've had enough of it. All other exterior walls besides this section have already been demo'ed, insulated and framed, and half of the basement has been drywalled. So this really is the Last Wall.

No longer. First, the paneling comes off, exposing the un-insulated walls behind. Gotta love that with weather like we've been enjoying until recently, where the high temps are below zero.

Looking into the office area, note the goofy knee high storage bench along the far wall.

And a closer look at that goofy knee high storage, with the top already removed ...

... and now with that entire storage area gone ...

... back to the main wall demo ...

Then up goes the foam board insulation ...

Next stop: framing!

I know it ain't much progress, but it's progress of a sort ... despite the hung PJ! It's just a bit of a balancing act ...
