And that reason is .........

See?

Phew...

I thought I was going to have to call in the big guns to set you straight, Hanes.

I'm very glad to see that you won't be whizzing all the classic Minnesota style down your leg.

Wise choice, BTW. I'm sure it will get much more use with the insert. I approve.

If I start throwing you bones, RT, I'll have to start throwing bones to every Tom, Dick or Harry. And where will it all end?

In chaos, turmoil and gross pictures of ugly half naked weird guys, if recent posts are any indication.

No! The time has come for someone to put his foot down, and that foot is me!

All right, another small update ... just so long as no one (are you listening, Noah my young friend? ) posts any more gross photos of half naked men! (half naked women are another matter entirely ...)

The doors are now all hung with the exception of the new back entry door that will replace the 65 year old sucker that barely keeps the cold out anymore. Here's a shot of the new door waiting patiently to be installed whenever my Main Man James finds the time, in between all the other work he is doing.

Speaking of doors, here's a little something for you Queen: a brand new munchkin door! It may be hard to tell but this furnace access door is all of about 4' high!

You're welcome, Queen!

This past weekend also saw pretty much the whole fam-damily pitching in to help start painting the ceiling and walls. Only my warrior son was MIA, having managed to head down to Chicago for a few weeks in a shameless ploy to avoid helping. Or some such thing. So it was just Dad & his Angels!

You will no doubt notice that oh-so-subtle dash of red around the fireplace . Being a veteran husband of a quarter of a century, I will only say that my dear bride has more creative ideas in her little finger than I do in my entire body, as I would have never thought of such an design in a million years. For those as design-challenged as I, that is apparently called an "accent wall." That's quite an accent, is what I'm thinking.

Or maybe that my wife is trying to get some payback for my painting the HT chocolate brown and tan without really giving her much of an opportunity to object. (Reminder photo below since it's been ages since the last shots of the HT.)

But since this part of the Never Ending Project is not my HT but only the main basement room (which will be mainly used by the teen aged girls to hang out and watch Chic Flicks and such on a TV above the fireplace) ... well, << shrug >> I can maybe live with that!

As you can see, we're obviously going with yellows - a darker shade for the walls and the lighter shade for the ceiling. What you don't see is anywhere is what the walls will look like after the fancy-schmancy faux glaze treatment we're doing. If it comes out anything like the sample, it will "read" (to use Official Painter Terminology) more like a stone or weathered leather than yellow. Time will tell, but I sure hope so, or I may suddenly "discover" some extra chocolate brown and tan paint.

While I'm rambling on I'll quickly add a couple shots of the new window casing and trim being installed.

And finally, a couple shots showing the unglazed walls and the unpainted baseboard and window trim going in. Needless to say, the windows are not yet in their final form, but more on that later.

It's amazing how much faster this stuff happens when I just get out of the way and open my wallet!

Good catch, Tony. I'll have to have a word with the crew, as for some reason I was the only one in proper uniform this weekend.

Hanes, thanks for thinking of me! Though I was a bit disappointed I didn't get the raised panel treatment but I suppose it was still thoughtful nonetheless!!

Colors are looking great. That wall color looks awfully familiar .

Great progress hanes. I like the color choices, especially on the "accent" wall!

Good to see your family getting involved as well. You know what they say....The family that builds a home theater together stays together. Well I don't think that is what they say, but it can't hurt can it?
