Are there any software packages out there that can capture an existing Home Theater design or design a new one from scratch? My Home Theater design is captured with a combination of paper and various Word/Excel files.

I'd like to capture all the wiring connects(port assignments, wire type), source/sink items(ie .AVR, DVD players, TV, media streamers etc.)?

I did mine in Visio (Powerpoint could work, just would take a bit longer), it took some time, but worth its weight in gold because I couldnt easily trace cables back once they were routed. I just boxed out each component, and made a key to identify each type of cable:

not sure on product suites..

though my suggestion for setup:

avr 1 preamped into avr 2

alternately

2 of everything using avr's with networking...


not sure of inside to outside is though i would try to keep cables to a min where possible...

also look at iptv distribution...
