I just got a Sony KDL-52EX700 HDTV:

And it's great, but I have the same nagging problem I had with the old TV. This TV sits on top of a cabinet containing all my various components. And the cabinet's fine too, but I'd love to raise my TV slightly, to make it about 6, 9 inches, something like that, higher?

Are there any stands made for this sort of thing? I suppose I could just try to scrounge a sturdy box or crate or something, but it'd be nice to have something that looks fairly decent too.

Any ideas for this sort of thing?

You're not going to find much that doesn't ultimately say "I'm a lump set under the TV to raise it up."

another option would be to put something under each leg of your table to lift the TV & table up 6 to 9 inches. depending on the type of table and the layout, that may look less obvious.

Thanks, that's the kind of thing I was thinking about. Seems like something there might do the trick, depending on the size and weight they can support.

They also have items like soundbar risers that could work if you are trying to elevate your TV above a soundbar:

I've ordered from these guys on a couple of occasions and have been very happy with them. Prices are good, delivery is quick and there always seems to be an additional discount.
