I just want to warn you that with Hanes, and now me participating here on your thread you are bound for greatness, or just slightly less than greatness.

Remember that your journey on this basement build out will resemble the following.

Just a quick PSA from me to you.

Welcome to the madness.

Regards,

RTROSE

My (slower than molasses) HT build here.
Now a Certified Carpet Counselor and Plumbing Counselor (Self given titles - pay no attention).
Enjoying my "almost done" theater.

RTROSE,

Just getting through your 33 pages could put my build back a week

Like you, i'm doing a full basement build vs "just a HT", so it's a big undertaking. And, with a 5yr old, 5mo old, and a wife I don't see enough due to work travel, I tend to work the basement from 10p - midnight when in town.

I'm looking fwd to any help / guidance to keep the build moving.

Well good to know that I have already helped you delay your build by a week.

If and when you get through all my pages you will find that the journey has not always gone as planned and that the progress has been nonexistent at times. I have found it very challenging to do an entire basement vs. say just a theater, but also very rewarding as well and I have learned a lot. When I began my build I knew it would take a long time as I have tried to pay as I go which can slow progress quite a bit at times. I think it was very early on in my build maybe even my first post I explained that there were many things in my life that also begged for my attentions and not just the build itself. Enjoy your family, enjoy your friends, and enjoy the journey.

RTROSE

I hope the fireplace idea works for you. We really wanted one below our screen since we originally wanted a dual purpose HT/family room. But, the need for screen real estate won out and the fireplace was sold. The difference between yours and the one we had it your choice is flush with the wall allowing for a drop down screen if desired later.

Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?

Slow going here. Way too much biz travel + stay home mom and 5yr and 6mo old = "spend time w/ the family vs work in the basement". I hope to get some time next week to finish up the framing and wiring.

I was smart enough to pay someone to do our deck vs starting another project.
