It is an OK player for the Price, the MP3 functionality has been good for me. The picture quality is great sometimes and OK at others. I prefer my Pioneer DVL-919 to my APEX. It was my first DVD player and I still choose to keep it. Mine does have the special hidden menu too that allows it to play multi region DVDs and can also defeat Macrovision. I use it to play some of my European PAL VCDs too.

It is no Sony 9000ES but that machine will cost you $1500.

Thanks for the input. It seems that for $169 I cant go wrong with it. My Samsung skips once in awhile and does not have component outputs. Thanks again.

I noticed an Apex DVD player at Kmart for $169. My first impression was it looked cheap. After reading a review on it on the net, I wanted one! It seems it is a very good player. Plays MP3s as well as all other standard disks. Plus the review said it performed very well. I guess "The Matrix" can give some DVDs a problem but this one played it without a problem, plus "Dragon's Lair" game DVD I guess. So, for the price it seems pretty reasonable. I need a new one with component outputs and Digital audio output. This one seems to have all I need. Any commenst on it at all?
