Every magazine I buy for home theater interiors uses a fptv and screen. I have yet to see any theater interior mags feature a theater using a RPTV. My setup is Pioneer sd-641hd5 (64 inch hdtv).Yamaha rx-v995 reciever. Toshiba sd5109 dvd.Rca sattelite tv.Sony ce515 cd changer. Sony 779 vcr. And I am using Boston Accoustic vr 960 fronts. Boston vr12 center. and Boston Vrs Pro surronds.

IMHO Yes!! What you SEE is looks. What you don't experience is the sound and true picture quality. Just because they look awesome doesen't mean it sounds great. Some of the most expensive theaters are more for looks than sound. No All. How many theaters do you see in a mag with speakers out a few feet from the wall and aimed slightly center. Thats just one example. Unless you eq. the whole system electronicly and TUNE it, the design of the rooms (for looks) will deteriate the sound. IMHO.

Dave

Now looking to be in the hot seat. Just an observation from my POV.

JWheels,

It sounds like you've got a great thing going, and YES, you can have a great HT with an RPTV. I recently got interested in HT when I saw a friends RPTV HT.

He had a Pioneer Elite with HDTV tuner, and a perfectly balanced 5.1 speaker system with separates. Amazing! I agree that the sound can add a LOT to the experience of envelopment, so your RPTV can be the centerpiece of an amazing system!
