All,

I'm looking for advice in purchasing rear speakers. This is for my basement in which I have the ceiling joists exposed. I had planned to buy some in-ceiling speakers, but they all seem to clip onto Sheetrock. I'm also trying to avoid freestanding speakers. So, are there any alternatives? Any ideas? Thanks!

So you're not going to put ceiling in? If so, can't you just run a little strut across the joists to attach the speaker to? If it was the same thickness as the sheetrock, you could clip to that.

That's correct, there will be no ceiling. Hmm, I'll have to look into the strut recommendation. I am quite unhandy though smile.gif

Do in-ceiling speakers do well in an open air environment?

Look at Triad in ceiling speakers. They come within their own backer box. Not sure of your budget as they are not cheap, but great product!
