I am building a new house and it comes with a square shape media room, about 306 sq ft. I am not planing to do anything fancy, just a neat clean media room. My 5.1 system includes Marantz receiver and Paradigm S8 front speakers (floor standing) and C3 center speakers, with a set of sony surround speakers. My plan is to mount my Sony LCD flat screen on the wall. Put the C3 directly under the TV on a speaker stand. The S8 will be on each side of the tv. I want to get a 3 or 4 shelf rack to put the receiver/cable box/blu ray player and place the rack in the corner.
So with this plan, how can I hide all the cables? The builder can put in 2" in wall flexible condut for $110, but that is just a vertical run for wall mount tv with the AV equipment right below it.
Additionally, builder can also run speaker wires in the room for me, but that means the speakers will be ceiling mount and that will not work for my S8 speakers.
Should I just hire someone to pull the wires for me instead of using the builder then? Will that have to be done before they put up the sheetrock? Not sure how difficult to do that after construction is completed.
If there are other suggestions and feed back, I would appreciate it too.
