I did a quick search about this but wasn't able to come up with much.

I'm planning a 5.1 theater/gaming room in my basement and have done quite a bit of research but I'm not sure how to proceed at this point.

The room right now as it is (unfinished) spans the whole width of the house, 39' long. The height is 7.5' and the width of the room is 13.4 feet.

I've given up on trying to get it close to the Sepmeyer Golden Ratio, so my dilemma at the moment is, should I enclose the room (and cut the room big room with a wall and a set of solid french doors), or do I leave it open? And if I enclose the room, how long should that wall be?

There's a door about 2/3 down the wall leading to the rest of the basement, and my other half doesn't really care how my man-cave is built.

Thanks in advance,

It will be a personal choice. What is your goal for the theater area? Do want to be able to go the theater and crank it up without disturbing anyone else in the house? Do you want a wide open space that you watch sports, play Wii or whatever and entertain with a bar, etc?

We need more inforamtion about your goals for the space. And as always, a floorplan doesn't hurt either.

I'd start with how many seats you actually need, and design out from there. I wouldn't sweat the Golden ratio.

If you cut the room in half, french doors will work against sound isolation.
