I’m upgrading my audio system and will now have a center channel that is too large to fit in front of my 60” Plasma resting on the ~ 30” tall media center.

My two options now are to:

A) Wall mount the TV and shift it approx. 5” higher to accommodate the 7” tall center channel (Polk CS1)
B) Wall mount the Speaker above the TV using any method available (easy shelves or small TV mount)

Mounting the speaker to the TV is not an option, as there is some flex in its standard configuration when the kids start bopping around to the music.

Option A I think would have a cleaner look, but the center of the TV would likely be ~56” from the floor while it’s ~ 51” now. Granted, with a wall mount the TV would be able to be angle down slightly.

Our seating distance is ~ 17 feet from the TV to the main sofa however, we have two large chairs adjacent to the TV ~ 10 and 15 feet respectively from the TV center.

Which option is the overall better choice. Option A I think is going to shift the TV a tad too high but will look better (and perhaps sound better) while option B would be easier but arguably position the speaker too high and look less clean.

Here is the current configuration (picture taken at seated eye level, main seating)...

From my experience, center channels have always sounded better below the screen than above it.

I am a "TV above the fireplace" guy, so I'd totally do #1. And really, I doubt you'd notice the difference going from 66" to 71" cool.gif

I just went ahead and wall mounted it. It look clean...and it keeps the kiddies fingerprints off the screen. The extra vertical shift is barely noticeable, with no fatigue sitting upright or laying on the sofa.
