Any ideas what I can use to cover these holes? I don't want a normal plate. Is there anything I can do other than just using sparkle? Thanks

Often, the speaker mount is hollow, and covers the penetration.

You still might be able to do a bushing.

My half gang wall plate idea is gaining traction.

Grommet is your best bet, at this point.

You might be able to use a console mount plate, with connectors. Try a Google image search for "Neutrik D Series" to get an idea of what I mean.

Can't find theses anywhere. Any other ideas?

If you're creative you can make your own.

If you're rich, you can pay someone to do it. Contact some companies that make custom wallpates. Or, someone who does 3D printing.

I like using something like these: http://www.amazon.com/Leviton-88013-Telephone-Wallplate-Thermoset/dp/B00004YUJU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1356388179&sr=8-2&keywords=wall+plate+hole

Give a nice finished look and easily pass the WAF test. I put some of those screw-in sheetrock anchors, which I then thread the finished wall plate cover screws into.

They make it them with different sized holes, for larger or smaller diameter cables.

You could buy a blank single gang plate, cut it up, and make it smaller, gluing together the pieces. You could sand and paint it, too, though some plastics are harder to paint than others.
