The decision has been made to finish a portion of our basement and make it into a media room/ man cave/ bar. After reading a ton, researching the various technology that's out there and comparing it to our needs, I settled of the following :

Panasonic VIERA TC-P65GT50
Sony STRDN1030 Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver
Polk 65RT for the fronts and center
Polk RC60i for the surrounds
Polk PSW125 for the sub

The basement is a blank slate at this point, so I need some advice concerning flooring and ceiling. We will be using this room for watching movies, football, playing video games, so the acoustical properties of the flooring and ceiling are my concerns now that I have the equipment and furniture taken care of.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I guess nobody on this site ever built one of these before. Guess it's time to find another site.

Sometimes it takes a while to get a reply, but you really weren't that clear with what you were asking.

You're looking for advice for acoustically friendly ceilings and carpet?

PS good luck finding a more informative site than this. smile.gif

I got this one...seems like a patient guy....he deserves the right answer.

Flooring - Cotton balls...a lot of them. They have fantastic acoustic properties.
Ceiling - Cotton Candy (its the latest trend in recording studios. I prefer strawberry or cherry flavor.
Walls - Spray foam with trolls set in (fuzzy heads pointing out). This will reduce audio reflection and improve heating/cooling effeciency.
