I am purchasing a new 60" led tv to go with a custom entertainment/fireplace stand I am building. I will need the tv to be mounted so that the bottom starts at about 50" putting the center of the tv about 66". I will be using a tilting wall mount.
How will this impact our viewing. We sit about 12' away
Last house both TV's were up there, basement was probably 45" from floor to bottom of tv and upstairs was higher, probably 55" or so. Right now in the new house we have an LCD over the fireplace that is around 54" to the bottom of the screen. check sig for links and pics so you can see what I'm talking about.
In my experience as long as you are not something crazy like 6'-8' to the bottom you won't have any viewing issues. I had no problems with all three tv's.
The top of my TV is about 8" down from the ceilng (8'). I've always been a proponent of TV's above fireplaces, but we prefer it this way. We're probably 15' back from it.
I always say if I'm relaxed and leaning slightly back, my head naturally points up. So any angle greater than parallel is better, within reason.
ya 90% of the time I watch tv I am laying down on the couch....very rarely sitting straight up and down
