Seeking advice on whether this layout will work or if I should forego the additional 7.1 side surrounds. All speakers are in the ceiling with Niles aimable 15 degree angled woofer and 15 degree angled tweeter. I figure I could aim the back and side speakers towards the sectional couch.

This is a living room and used for multi purpose so side surrounds and on wall are not possible. WAF must be high. I haven't purchased the additional pair of side surrounds to match the rears, but I do have a 7.1 yamaha receiver and could add these if the advice is the sound would be fine (not ideal) in this orientation. Cost is marginal, since it's just an extra pair of speakers.

Appreciate all the feedback and advice.

Peter

With the sofa against the wall, I would not waste the money on 7 channel.

Custom, one of a kind pair, MJC212 mains, mod PT800 center, PT800 surrounds, SUB1500s. Parasound P7, Citation 19, Parasound HCA2205A, HK AVR3600, Marantz TT, Samsung BD player, Denon DVD-A player, MacBook Pro w/ Dirac Stereo Suite.
