I'm thinking about upgrading to a projector and am wondering what kind of projector I should get and how big of a room do I need? I know there are different types of projectors and I want one with the best quality picture and just mostly want to be pointed in the right direction. Thanks in advance to y'all.

You need to head to the Digital Projectors forums under Display Devices. Go to the Projectors under $3000 forum. If you game seriously, as in needing the least amount of lag, choose carefully.

I like the Acer H6510bd. The Benq W1070 is highly recommended. These are DLP's so if you have a sensitivity to rainbows these might be a problem.

If you can go as high as $1800 the sharp Z30000 has been on sale more than once now for that price. It is by far the best bang for the buck as it originally listed for over $4000. You will find a very active thread for it in the over $3000 forum do to the original price.

I love my Optoma GT750. It is extremely low cost, you don't need to worry about space (I'm projecting a 120" image from about 6 feet), very bright, and you don't need to worry about people getting in front of the screen when gaming since it is such a short throw.

It's huge downside is that it is 720p and not 1080p or 4k like some of the newest models.

This is one of the things where you could ask 5 different people and get 6 different answers. There's also a forum dedicated to projectors like Sonyad mentioned.

What is affordable to you? That means different things to different people...

I recently had been testing out the Epson 3010 and 5010 and liked both of them. The 3010 (now 3020) is plenty bright, shoots 3D, and is not expensive.

As you can see from the replies, you will get ideas all over the board. If you can narrow the question, that will help.

Do you want 3D?
Are you a gamer?
Is there lots of ambient light in the room?
How far from the screen will the projector be located?
How big of an image are you trying to get?
And, what does affordable mean to you?

Answer those, and we can help. Also, check out the projector subforum, as suggested. enjoy!

First of all thanks for the feedback guys!

So what I'm looking for is -

Gaming (mostly PC fps)
100" minimam
Lighting can be dark if needed
10 - 14 feet away as i can have it

And I'm hoping to not spend more than $1500 if at all possible. Thanks again guys!
