First post here and a bit of a newb, so please be kind.

I have just purchased a new Panasonic TC-P55UT50 plasma TV and am having difficulty integrating it into my other HT components. I also have the following:
• Panasonic SA-HT275 receiver
• Motorola 6200 STB

STB has no HDMI connections, only component connections.
Receiver has no HDMI connections, though it does have optical jacks.
TV has 2 HDMI jacks, component and optical jacks.

My problem is that I can get Dolby surround sound from STB to receiver when watching TV, but if I switch to the internet apps on the TV, I can only get sound out through the built in speakers. I did change the audio settings on the TV to send sound out to the receiver speakers, but still no dice.

Any thoughts or suggestions on the best way to get surround sound from the STB AND internet apps with the equipment I have? Or, do I need to upgrade my receiver and/or STB?

Thank you very much.

Oh, I also have a Harmony 880 remote for controlling everything.

I think I would buy a newer reciever with HDMI 1.4 and get the Moto DCT updated to one with HDMI.

If you can get the cableco to upgrade your box, great, but don't pay for anything there - it won't make a difference.

The TV has a digital optical output, you run that back to the TV digital input on the receiver. That will get you audio from the TV-based apps.

Thank you Tide and Jeff. I'll start with Comcast and switch out the STB and see if that helps.

Jeff - FYI, I am using an optical cable from the TV to my receiver, but still can't get sound out to HT speakers when using internet Apps. Head- scratcher for sure.

Do you get any audio from the TV through the receiver? You've switched inputs on the AVR and so forth? That may be a question for the Panasonic TV thread / folks - making sure the internal apps will output from the digital audio output.

Switching out my ancient Moto STB box for a newer unit with HDMI output did the trick!
Switching between TV and Internet apps now works fully and everything is full digital Dolby surround sound.

Thanks guys for the assist.
