Not sure where the best place to answer this question is so throwing it here...

Is there a decent primer out there somewhere, maybe on this site, that would give a relative newbie the basics and background on what is available in home theater and audio systems? it has been so long since I really paid attention to the subject, and I am planning to build a home theater and possibly audio system and was hoping there was a somewhat comprehensive up to date book, site, magazine, etc. that I could read to get up to speed on what is out there today.

Thanks,
Steve

Lots and lots of reading on all the threads here on AVS , google the terms you don't know , then read some more posts . There is a wealth of information here and I've learned a ton , I don't think a book could cover everything this site does.

It was like that when I got here

AVS Home Theater Book is a start, but really, spending a few months here on AVS, during the planning stage, is required, IMO, for a quality build. I haven't seen this book personally, but you can search for some discussions of it.
