I need to cut down on some noise transmission through windows due to close proximity with my neighbors. I'd like to keep the solution transparent so the windows still serve their purpose in letting in light whenever I want (without removing some ugly inserts), and I've heard of people using extra panes of acrylic installed over their existing windows. Has anyone done this? Or does anything have any suggestions or other options?

Here's a link to a company that sells em:

I figured if anyone would know how to cut down on noise transmission through windows, it'd be you guys.

How old or less than perfect condition are your current windows?
There are many brands that manufacture triple pane windows.
A few years back I was installing them and the amount of noise cut down was huge. I was working under the Airport Authority replacing windows/doors and adding extra insulation to homes under the flight paths to the local airport.
They are usually a combo of a dual pane with an added single pane on the outside, all in one frame.

They're about 1.5 years old, low E, pretty nice windows. I'll post a pic of the stats I found on them. I think they're just low density? Not really sure... An extra pane on the outside isn't a bad idea! Then I don't have to mess with my current shades. Might look into something like that.
