I started by looking into dynamic ambient LED lighting for behind my Sony Bravia 55" TV that I have mounted on the wall in my apartment and as I have started researching, all I can find are DIY tutorials and as I answer one question, I end up having two more questions.

I found a fantastic display of what I'm wanting to accomplish with my own setup but I don't have a clue what I'm looking at.

HTPC? XBMC? I gather that HTPC = Home Theater PC and XBMC is some sort of software for home theater stuff but what can you do with an HTPC/XBMC aside from make cool lights?

Can I use these applications with my blu-ray player, Xbox, or DirecTV box?

Essentially, I just want interactive/dynamic LED lights for my TV while I'm watching movies or playing games. If you guys can provide me with any resources or tutorial info that could get me going, that would be great! smile.gif

I'm a really strong believer in respecting people's personal tastes and preferences, so I say this with great respect and without intent to offend, but I can't, for the life of me, see why you'd want to do this! Okay, maybe for certain games, but having all of this going on while watching a movie?? Maybe I'm missing the point here?

You'll need to run your content directly from the computer.

It looks too much like backlight bleeding for my tastes though.
