Hello experts!

I am looking for some advise to configure and create a surround sound system.

46" Sony Bravia TV
Sony DVD Player
Direct TV
Apple TV
PS3 ( future)
Karoke system ( future ) - optional
Ability to connect iphone/ipad/computer

The home is pre- wired for surround sound in the living room.

The Room:

2 story living room - 18 ft by 20 ft - 20 ft ceiling
Open Kitchen to the back
6 windows to the right
Stairs to the left

I have also setup 2 speakers in the kitchen for a second zone if needed. However, i now realize that the sound in the living room will be loud already and not sure if i can use it the way we initially wanted )

Really like the Bose Acoustimass 10
also love the size of the speakers and its aesthetic
Also looked at Klipsch but not sold on it.
I do not have much experience in comparing the systems.

Big on Airplay and streaming music and videos
Will mostly be used for streaming music , watching cable/shows and movies at times.

Looking at Yamaha or Pioneer
Yamaha RX V475 / Yamaha RX V575
Pioneer VSX 823K / VSX 1123K / Pioneer VSX1022K - costco only.

1. Should i even consider a 7.2 system if i plan to have only 5 speakers. I just may be able to get the RX575 for the price of RX475 - hence the question. WIll i lose any part of the experience if i get the 7.2 receiver but hook up only 5 speakers.
2. Between Yamaha and Pioneer, what is recommended for my setup and which is a better model. I see that pioneer possibly has more HDMI ports, any other differentiators to consider.

thanks for your time reading this and i appreciate your advise.
