Hi - I'm putting together a low-budget HT build for a living room area, would love to get a critique from this forum.

Key goals for the build is to have a high WAF and keep things low budget.
My strategy is to pick inexpensive but highly rated components that I expect will provide decent performance and reliable operation over the next 3-4 years (until next upgrade cycle smile.gif)

Room dimensions: 18' x 14'
Ceiling: 10' vaulted
Room has large windows on one side, and is open to hallway on the other side.
Mostly watch at night, expect to have some ambient light (have tested the PJ, works fine for watching under these conditions).

Screen size: 120" 16:9
Screen will come down over a fireplace (which is not used often).
Seating distance from screen: 9-10' (yes this is close but I'm ok with that).

Equipment:
PJ: BenQ 710ST - already own.
Screen: Elite Screens VMAX120XWH Electric projection Screen - $375
Speakers: Leviton AEH50-WH Architectural Edition Powered By JBL - $230
Amp: Yamaha RX-V375 5.1 Channel 3D - $250
Source: Sony Blu-ray player - already own
Source: Roku 3 - $90
Remote: URC RFS200 MasterControl RF20 and PowerBlaster - $70

This keeps the new equipment budget to around 1K or so.

The speakers are probably the biggest compromise - simply can't have anything that is large or stands out.

Any thoughts or input would be appreciated before I pull the trigger.

Thanks in advance.

Your overall goals with your build were very similar to mine. I have the 1613 and the older ProCin 60s... You should be pleased with the 600s. However, I already have the upgrade bug and want a more capable sub - it's decent but under powered for the size of my room (open layout with vaulted ceilings). The 1613 has been great for me so far as well. I really enjoy using the smartphone app to control Pandora.

Also, check out bajawaverunner's ebay store - they're the 'offical' def tech refurb seller. I bought speaker stands for the 60s from them and check back in from time to time to see what deals they have. They've got some great prices on the SM65s, 55s and 45s, if you have room for bigger bookshelves. Accessories4less sells refurb'd 1613s for pretty cheap as well - I've read some good reviews of them on here. That should save you some $ to use elsewhere (or take the wife out on a nice date to smooth things over even more...)

Both the 600 and the 1613 have dedicated threads in their respective sub-forums. Check 'em out if you haven't already.

I don't have much to add, other than that you might look at a couple Bass Shakers to make up for a small sub. They can add a lot to the HT experience, are fairly cheap, and are hidden in the seating so no WAF issues.
