The parents and I are planning on turning our rumpus room into a home theatre. We are still working out the final details, but would love feedback!

So far, here's the plan:
- Sony VPL-HW50ES projector
- 120" screen (brand undecided)
- 5.1 speaker setup (undecided, looking for budget of 1k AUD minus sub)
- Pioneer VSX 919AH receiver

Acoustic panels planned to improve sound quality and remove light bounce-back from screen. Walls won't be painted. Blinds over the windows are currently in place but will be replaced with dark curtains.

Door seen in image below leads to walkway. The room is actually open plan and the open ended bit in the concept images below joins the dining room and kitchen.

The room is 5.5m long.

There are full books written on home theater design.. you will need to ask specific questions if you need help on certain topics. Tips I can give are spend a lot of time in the dedicated room forum reading what others have done. There is a thread that people post things they would do differently next time, should be a helpful read..

I went ahead and purchased the screen. We are looking at moving soon so we decided to put off anything else that required "wrecking" the house.

I am upgrading the projector shortly to the Epson 9200.
