I just bought a Samsung 64" plasma and I am looking for a TV stand/console to store my components (125 watt AVR receiver, Oppo Blu-Ray, Direct TV STB, modem, router, center channel, VHS and possibly a stereo power amp. While some of the consoles I've looked at have an open architecure (usually glass and metal), the majority of them (and the best looking ones in my opinion) are made from wood and have doors. These wood units invariably come with a rear panel, so the components are completely enclosed. With this type of console, how do you avoid overheating your components? I guess you could add a fan in the back, but I'm looking six bay consoles (three across, two high). I'm not going to install six fans.
