receiver help

I'm looking to replace my Marantz SR8002 for a dedicated home theater. Its old and not user friendly. I have been reading about recievers butr am not sure how a theater reciever would differ from the reviews for standard room set up recievers. I also have an oknyo nr 709. Any advise on if it could compare and drive a theater room?
Any suggestions?
Is there a post someone knows of to reference?

The new Marantz models are great and super user friendly. If it's been awhile since you've looked at their products, it might be worth a re-visit.

I'm pretty much sold on the Marantz SR7008. XT32 and plenty of channels, bells and whistles. I'll have a external amp as well.

I was hoping to get an Atmos enabled AVR/processor, but that seems to be a few months away. I'll let the tech develop a bit and then make a change. I am wired for 9.2.4
