Hi!

My LDS-2 laserdisc player suddenly failed to provide color content; currently only produce monochrome (B&W) images.
This occurred several months ago and in the meantime I located another LDS-2 machine which I picked up for just a few hundred. http://205.232.82.242/ubb/smile.gif

The thing is that I would like to have my original machine, which remains in new-like condition, fixed by someone who really know what he's doing (can't locate anyone nearby who can even come close to do that!).
Can anyone in the Southern California area direct me to a technician who can perform the task? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! http://205.232.82.242/ubb/smile.gif

Mark and Mark,

Thanks! Yes...I'll be checking the machine out with new S-Video cables. Umm, should have thought about this before, particularly since I was also using a passive S-video switcher (Sony). Can't foget the basics! http://205.232.82.242/ubb/smile.gif
I'll report results...

Hi!

Thanks to all of you who've so kindly helped me with this matter.

I am not about to dump the LDS-2 in question; is still in new condition. But did get the other one because of the price. I figured having these two plus a 504 model (picked it up from ebay for peanuts and is like new, too) will tidy me over for years to come. Wanted a 97 or 99 (or even the 704) but couldn't find one for a price I was willing to pay. The LDS-2 still remains a great performer INHO, and is built like a Sherman tank!

As the end of the laserdisc format near ever so speedily, it's a good idea to shore up a good supply of LD players if one still have a large collection of movies on this format, which I do... http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Frank, a CLD-79 sold on E-bay just
yesterday for $525.That's not a bad
price. There's not that much difference between 79's & 99's.The
704 is very similar to the 79 on the
inside that is.I like the controls way
better on 704 but the 79 has a little
better picture.The only diff. between
the 79 and 99 are the side panels (99)
and the 99 has a better comb filter.
I'd take the first 79 or 99 I could
swing a deal on.
