I'm soooo happy! I decided to go ahead and buy the Toshiba TW40X81 today, so I called my local retailer, and lo and behold, he has one in stock!!

Back, Back ye dogs!!! hehee

Anyway, I need to buy the stand now, and can't find it sold on the web anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks much,

Nethawk

Thanks much, I called them, but it will be at least two to three weeks before they have them in.

Geez, I guess everyone who buys the TV also buys the stand, bummer!!

Yes, the stand is a scam !!!! Toshiba builds the damn tv 6" too short so you MUST buy the stand!!! at least the stand comes with a little storage unit underneath where I can put my hd decoder when I get it. For now, the vcr is there. Oh well, I too bought mine from Consumer-direct cause I only saw it in one other place on the net and it was right around retail. Consumer-direct has the better deal. The one cool thing is, my stand came cracked!!! So when I told them I was returning it they said, how bad is it cracked? and I said, well it's not that bad, but I don't want a cracked stand. They said, keep the stand cause it will cost us too much to have it shipped back and then we can't even re-sell it anyways. So they let me keep the stand and then credited my account. Woo hoo !!!! FREE TV STAND !!! and the crack isn't noticable cause it's being covered by the vcr! TAKE THAT TOSHIBA!!!!

Nethawk, just curious on why you bought the TV from your local dealer but want to buy the stand from an on-line store?

Can anyone give me the precise measurement (height only) for the Toshiba TW40X81 stand? I'm considering it, but I'm almost used to sitting on the floor now to watch TV! Seriously though, I'm hoping that it doesn't raise the set too much, as it only needs a slight boost.

I just measured it ... it will lift your tv exactly 10" from the floor. I have a normal couch and it is perfect eye level ... I suggest the stand. You're getting used to the height on the floor, but I can assure you, to any guests that come over and visit, your tv will seem short. Regards.

Thanks for the input. Now if I can just find the stand somewhere. I'll ask my dealer who sold me the X81 first. Hopefully he can hunt one down for me.

Try this site out: http://www.consumer-direct.com/detai...VPARTNO=ST4016

It's where I got mine, much cheaper than even dealer costs (well, thats according to dealers, anyway.

Good luck!
