Is there a speaker placement software or program?

So I was showing off my theater setup to my uncle and aunt and they loved it so much they wanted me to do something similar in their place. The problem is they live almost 6 hours away so walking down the street or staying there for a week or more to plan things out is hard. What I was wondering was if there is some kind of program out there that will let me input some measurements and it can help me figure out faster the best place to set up the speakers correctly?

You could use sketch up and do a model of the room. Your uncle/aunt could give you the measurements, so you would not have to drive there.

In the program you can even download realistic models of speakers, avr, projectors,tv, etc and put them in the room you created. It’s pretty neat.

That's a good one. Personally, I find Sweet Home 3d (free lite version online, runs in Java, or paid version for MacOS, maybe others) is much easier -- and of course cheaper.

REW has a basic room simulator for bass. It is helpfull in predicting nulls and peak locations.

Very cool! I did not know about that.

Thanks.

My current setup.
My favorite movie review podcast, the Next Picture Show.
Don't suffer through Gamma D on your JVC. Optimize HDR Tone Mapping using Arve's tool & Masciola's test patterns instead (hints.)

This is probably overkill for your project but I'll link it here in case someone else can use it

Want a 3D render of you future home-theater?

Disclaimer: I haven't used or tried any of the above but read up on them and they look very cool
