Toshiba S-Video/Component Input Alert

There is a great hazard rearing its ugly head whenever a certain combination of commands is sent into the Service Mode section of the new Toshibas, from a certain input.

Calibrators and DIYers alike, pay heed:

BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY GEOMETRY ON A NEW TOSH, BE SURE AND READ THIS!

If you go into the Service Menu Mode FROM THE COMPONENT/COLORSTREAM INPUTS, and hit VPOS then volume up twice, your S-Video inputs will get screwed up, and will show a solarized, negative, half-gone picture from then on, no matter whether there is any material sent from any source device or not.

The only remedy for this problem currently is re-initializion of the set, which is a long and tedious process.

At this point, the best way around this dilemma is to enter the Service mode ONLY from S or Composite inputs, and let your precision settings come from there, and simply APPLY to the component inputs.
