Steve,

Great work. Love the colors. What's you projector? Screen and size?

Hi Bill... thanks. I appreciate that. We struggled for a while trying to find the 'perfect' colors. I don't think we quite made it to 'perfect', but we're very happy with them. They look even better in person. I'm diggin' your theater and color scheme too. Blue was a strong finalist in our color quest.

I have a Carada 126" (1.78:1) Precision BW screen and a Panasonic AX100U projector. I love them both. They work great together and create a more than impressive image.

any chance on some room dimensions? screen size? room size? how high up is the projector mounted from the floor and how far from the screen?

Howdy...

The room is approximately 21' x 13' x 7'. The ceiling goes up to just under 8' over the back riser.

The projector is about 6' off the main floor and is about about 21' from the screen. The screen is a 126" 16x9 Carada BW. It's mounted right to the ceiling on the front wall (at about 7').

If you need precise measurements, PM me and I'll be glad to get them for you.

No. It's actually just an oak equipment cabinet I found on Craigs list for $50. I took the back off and built it into the wall from the other side. Then I painted the insides flat black. You can see how I did it in th pic below:

That's my thought as well. I really like the look, but how much performance do you lose by having an entire side wall open?

This was all done my self with a uncle over a two month period just working on the weekend. carpet will be a red shade... can't wait to just be done with it.

If you shop right and do all the work yourself, you'd be suprised. My basement was finished under $2000 and equipments, projector, speaker, ect... are around $3000. So total isn't so bad.

Agreed, with a lot of late nights, sore everything, and patience you can get yourself a very nice looking room. Mine is still in progress but I just tallied up the receipts and i'm only at a hair over $2000, and that's for a 14'X30' space and new stairs... With the rest of the basement i'll come in around $5000. Then equipment on top of that, which isn't that bad if you shop smart and know where to look

Thanks for the kind words. I placed a couple of sheets of sheetrock over the window. then soundbarrier material to keep outside noise from coming in. From there I built a fasle wall that is insulated and the screen rest up against that. I love it so far. We did not use the space much before but now it will be used all the time. my kids love it and now my wife is really getting into it now that it is closer to getting done. I will make a thread of my own soon to show the progress and the future mods to come.

well I don't know if my room would quality as a Home Theater, being that its my room... but I'm doing some home theater-ish, things to it. Such as in wall speakers, HDMI in wall cables to a ceiling mount for a (future) HD projector....and also AV wall plates..... does that count as some sort of HT room???..... I would link up to my flickr page where I have a set of pictures where I'm a photo log of my progress. From a messy room ....to what I hope it will be. ... I'll post some soon.

I really like the ceiling. What did you use and how is it constructed? Do you have a close up pic?

My basement finishing saga took about 8 months and cost about $15K (including electronics and appliances) for an additional ~1300 sq. ft of living space. I just don't see how I could've done it for any cheaper.

Before:
(More like sometime during framing. I don't have a true before picture. It was just a boring basement not worthy of photos.)

Semi-After (Photo taken before carpet and baseboards, but close enough.)
