Nice work on the bar remodel - it fills the space much better and looks a lot more integrated than before. One of my pet peeves are bars that are just 'drop ins' that appear out of place. Part of the trick of having them look integrated is getting stuff on the walls and getting the ceiling redone as you've done. Nice job!

Nice looking theatre but why such a relatively small screen? I'd be rocking it wall to wall, as long as you can sit around 1.5 x screen width the picture quality will be excellent with 1080 bluray. I guess you have the option of going larger at some point if you wanted to.

The wide angle lens is causing a distortion that makes the screen look smaller. It's a 145" scope screen. (133" x 57")

The primary seats (first row) are 138" from the screen. (Eye ball to screen) so for scope I'm at about 1.0 SW and for 16:9 I'm at ~1.4 SW.

AND you are right a good bluray is awesome at this distance....add some great sound and we love this room! smile.gif

Here is a pic for size reference. That's me 6'1" 200#s in the pic.

I recently spun my room 180 degrees, upgraded to a Seymour AV acoustically transparent screen (115" diagonal), and brought in some new electronics as well. Full details in the build thread in my sig. Still not quite finished, but much better than it was.

I think that is a very expensive Black Diamond exitoc screen you are impressed with.. more than the projector. Here is a link to the screen.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/screen-i...&skuId=5599766

ThAt looks like a photoshop composite. One exposure for the screen and another for the room.

But to answer your question, no.

It is a Black Diamond screen by SI. You still need a pretty bright projector.

No, it's not a composite. It's a single shot. I believe I shot this in the afternoon where the sun is directly above the house. So all you see is the ambient light from outside. If it were earlier in the morning, where the sun comes up from the left side windows, image on the screen would be washed out and I would have to close the shades/curtains.

To answer your question, yes. But it's a combination of projector and screen. I'm using an Epson 5030UB projector and Screen Innovation Black Diamond Zero Edge.

Moving to Blaine WA

Never thought I'd ever move after I worked so hard to build this beautiful basement in what I thought would be my last house. This home in NJ will go up for sale in Feb 2015, we are moving to Blaine WA the NW tip of the lower 48 to be closer to our daughter. The good news is I will be building a brand new home (entirely my design and architecture) with a 7500sq ft walkout basement, 12' ceilings, (5 times the current basement size), complete with two bowling lanes (love bowling), multiple projection screens, at least two bars and a sub-basement wine cellar. The home will be built on 6ac land I purchased earlier this year, overlooking Drayton Harbor, Blaine WA in Jan 2014; amazing views. Can't wait to start the build, though basement will be last to finish .

Looks like most of the builds are in peoples basements... Wish I didn't have the sewage troubles that I've had over the years. Just can't trust it, even if it's been a year and a half since the last time things backed up.

I've been playing a lot of games down there, it's now my dedicated game room, and occasional movie room. I rarely use the living room anymore.

I framed around it, and built doors to cover up the panel. The panel is behind the couch.

Construction started in May, and finished (with the exception of the ceiling) in July just days before my GTG.

So far the TV has survived. My older LCD TV almost didn't...during a few demos, every time the bass hit the screen would distort, and it eventually shut off. After a power cycle it was fine though
