Hello,

I have done an extensive research and have finally decided to purchase either the Pioneer PDP-5070HD PureVision 50" Plasma HDTV or Pioneer PDP-4270HD PureVision 42" Plasma HDTV. However, I have one dilemma. I intend to install the television above my fireplace which gives me exactly 38 1/2" (height) area to work with. The 50" is 38" high and the 42" is 28" high; and I really really really want the 50". Does "forcing" the 50" in such a tight space makes sense AND is it even possible to accomplish this using a tilt wall mount?

Thanks for you assistance!

Plasma's produce a lot of heat and they are vented on the top as heat rises. So you definitely need a few inches of clearance on the top.

Thanks! I just realized that the 50" is actually 28.25" high (and not 38") and the 42" is 26.25" high. So, I've got 10" for venting with the 50". Yessssssssssssssssss!
