WOW!!!!! What a beautiful bar... right down to the Penguins memorabilia. I am a HUGE Pens fan and am in the process of building my Man Cave. I want to make it a 'Pens Cave' but am having trouble deciding what to do with the walls. My current idea is to paint the top 2/3 of the of the wall in Penguins gold, add a white chair rail, and then paint the lower portion of the wall black. If I do that, what color would you suggest staining the bar? Any other ideas you may have for a fellow Pens fan???

Great bar. Could you post your bar footprint and counter depth? I have a similar space and just want some actual measurements.

How did you do the poles? specifically....how are they attached to the pole?

Hmmmm I would also incorporate the Penguins blue...

Have you thought about having the logo painted on a wall?

I will measure later when I get home. The poles are secured with a small block at the bottom nailed to the cement floor then the actual box being built around it. You have to frame the top and bottom sections.

Looks like it, same one I used in my media room. I also got the screw covers strip from middle atlantic to hide all the screw heads.

While I love the Penguins throwback uniforms (I actually purchased one about 4 years ago with Lemieux on it) I prefer the Pens in black and gold (not yellow). I have a friend who works at a sports apparel manufacturer. He told me that the Penguins organization has bought ALL of their powder and navy blue material due to a color change when they open the new arena. The intent is to go powder blue full-time... I am NOT in favor of this change. Anyway, back to the issue at hand...
I do intend to paint the circular logo (from the throwback / 3rd jersey) on the wall but in black and 'vegas' gold. I am just not sure about my base-plan for the wall. After looking at another person's project, I am thinking about doing gold on 2 walls (opposite on another) and black on the others.... not sure...

I think I have a gold Easton Classic Aluminum somewhere at my parents house. Nothing better than a hockey stick that can produce real shrapnel. Oh, BTW. Go Wings!

I still have an old aluminum Easton. You can say it could be used as a weapon!

Decided to do a little update this winter. I plan to put in a LARGER equipment rack and do some brick work on that wall. I bought a Sonos player and noticed that it will not fit into the rack spaces left....so time for a BIGGER rack!cool.gif

Also doing a renovation on my office and dining rooms. Adding hardwood floors and some Def Tech ceiling speakers to my office.

Have you held one of the new CCM Rocket sticks? It weighs maybe 2 ounces. I still have a couple Aluminium Eastons and the feel like 2x4's compared to the new sticks.

Hopefully the season starts on time... mad.gif

Question:

Did you stain your bar or just poly the wood. It looks awesome?

Poly.

Yea, and as for the CCM sticks, what happened when I was a kid as hockey sticks were only $25? Now they can run you $300+

I am making a trip to Canada this weekend to see what deals I can find.

I like the look of the natural wood. What kind of wood was it? Oak?

They are slowly not making wood goalie sticks any more. They have dropped off a ton and the price has skyrocketed. The problem with the composites is that they just break. Wood atleast can take a beating and you can still use it.

Good luck on your endeavor.

OK the remodel bug has hit me again....

I am putting in a LARGER rack and ordering up some custom shelves. I am also going to add some brick work to the wall to add a little rustic look to the basement.

Finishing up some hard wood flooring in my dining and office then this is my late fall/early winter project. Also going to do some MAJOR cable clean up work. Looks like a spaghetti mess right now!!!!

Just installed some Def Techs ceiling speakers in my office.... loving life right now!!

Stay tuned for part 2.0...

Ordered up a 29 space rack and a few custom rack panels for the Denon, Onkyo amp and my Sonos player...

Should be here next week. Hardwood floors go in the following week in the dining and office rooms and then i will install the rack.

Going from a 20 space to a 29 space. Kinda wish I would have just done that when i was doing this project a few years ago.

Got the rack and custom shelves yesterday by FedEx. Ordered them last Friday late afternoon and got them Thursday. Everything looks nice and solid. Probably won't get to this till next weekend since I have to rip out carpeting and tile in my house this weekend.

Before and after pics to come.

http://www.customavrack.com/Products/9-middle-atlantic-5-29-slim-5-series-rack.aspx

It got shipped directly from Middle Atlantic.

Easy to put together. I plan on installing it the week of thanksgiving. I am taking vacation time off to get caught on on projects. Can't wait to do some nice cable management. Looks like HELL right now.

Here is another nice rack... Bit more expensive.
