Yeah, like the other guy said - TV show from 1964-1966 time frame - an early 'Team America' style thing .

It looks like every episode too. They are saying 1920 minutes which is 32 * 60.

That said, I don't think the eps were 60 mins so there may be one of the movies thrown in there... who knows.

I will certainly see what I can find out about it.

Just preordered Life on Mars Series 1 & 2... LOVE this show. Best show of the past couple years... Well, besides Lost and Doctor Who, of course

Will be investigating thoroughly into whether or not they are region free. I've luckily got a couple months to find out before they ship.

Doubtful since the studio has advertised it as Region B. The AB and ABC titles by them were correctly advertised as well I believe.

The UK versions from Optimum is, but Studio Canal in France may drop region coding, since they're releasing essentially the same lineup.

I believe that Optimum is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canal, who have basically become Canal's UK DVD/BD release division, so I would be a bit surprised if their region coding was not identical.

It should actually be all-region, since Sony policy has all catalog titles set that way, so you should be able to play it just fine.

I finally got the title in yesterday and had no problems at all playing it. Does anyone know why a studio would sell a new BD release in the UK and not in the US such as this one?

France seems to have a habit of 'protecting' its home video product by tailoring much of it exclusively to French consumers, thereby limiting each disc's crossover potential to other markets. The main methods seem to be forced French subtitles on English-language films, or no English subs at all for non-English films. This doesn't always happen, of course, but it seems to be a trend.

Despite the inconvenience to people in foreign markets (er, that'll be us, then! ), I can't say I blame the French, since they take their films (and their film market) very seriously indeed, and have always strived to prevent its dilution by preventing 'outsiders' from accessing their products by any means possible. It seems to have worked very well, since French is not a universal language (for want of a better phrase), which makes it easier to tailor home video to one particular market.

Many of the things you describe are due to contractual obligations between the home video studios in different countries, not out of a desire for the French studios to screw over viewers who speak other languages.

On a given movie, the French studio may be contractually prohibited from including English subtitles if another studio owns the distribution rights for neighboring English-speaking territories.
