I'd get this except I bought the Japanese version with TrueHD. While good flick, not good enough to double-dip even if DTS-MA.

Multiple countries. I bought it from Amazon.fr (Buy 1 get 1 free they have going on until the end of this month)

I picked up Walk the Line(Lots of Extras In HD on a 2nd disk)/Chicken Run and Transporter 1/2 (Lots of extras unfortunately the video on the extras will not play on Region A players: No Matter I am in it for the uncut and improved transfers)

Amazon France Sale

Finally received my B2G1 from Amazon.uk, but one of the cases is busted. Have you guys tried to get another case sent?

Still, pretty excited to take these for a spin: The Island, Casino Royale, and Pan's Labyrinth.

You see me reaching for my f****** wallet?!?

I moved my AmazonUK purchases to the US style cases a few days ago and have no use for the originals (seven BD and one HD DVD). Make a reasonable offer and you can have the lot !

Isn't the cover art too big though for U.S cases?

I actually like the UK ones better now...at first I didn't but the U.S ones are all different...I also like the engraved BD logo.

Has anyone purchased an Australian-release BD? I'm curious if those giant ratings-board logos/warnings I see in so many pictures of the packaging are actually printed on the covers or if they're just stickers on the shrink-wrap.

I don't feel special...

I bought CASINO ROYALE from Australia. The big ratings thing is actually printed on the cover, but that's a small price to pay for having the director's cut.

It's gotten to the point where I don't care at all about packaging. If anything, I like the weird little quirks associated with international packaging, because it makes those discs unique.

Thanks!

That's how I feel, as well. I also prefer more standard packaging to big deluxe editions because I love the minimal space required by standard BD cases.

Can anyone provide info on the playability of extras on UK releases for "Life Of Brian", "Close Encounters" and "Run Lola Run"? I'm assuming "Run Lola Run" has no extras, but don't know if the other two contain SD content that won't play as PAL in the U.S. Thanks.

Those are all Sony releases. Sony always codes the extras in NTSC import or not.

Anyone have some info about In Bruges that's available at Amazon now? I can't decide whether to drop $10 on a DVD and wait for a US release of the blu-ray or drop $37 now for the one that's available. I'd appreciate any advice.

82 HD DVD and 230 Blu-ray so far with plenty of DVDs too

I'm pretty sure it's the Nordic release that I received from Axelmusic. Picture is excellent. Extras work. DTS-HD.

It's a shame the DVD release fell right between the window of Uni going from HD-DVD to Blu. The movie is getting more buzz now for Colin's win and the Original Screenplay nom but Universal has a pretty sizeable back catalog of HD-DVDs to get to as well as new stuff. I say order it.

If you like the movie, I would definitely pick up the BD.

It's absolutely better than ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, which has a very poor transfer on the UK Blu Ray (though the Studio Canal FR version looks better in motion, even if it's from the same lousy master).

While it is sad to say, the Fog IS a poor HD transfer. The HD broadcast version has much more detail, and it doesn't push/bleed red in many scenes. When I get some time, I'll have to retake the bad comparison photos I posted at highdefdigest.

The UK release of Ashes of Time Redux is region-free with PAL extras. There's some more info and caps here. The caps are pretty small so I wouldn't judge too much from them, but I saw this theatrically and I can say anyone expecting reference quality should forget about it -- even the 35mm version looked processed to high heaven.

Just as a note -- I ordered from Amazon on 1/24, but the shipping is delayed for the item. I received an e-mail this morning that delivery is now expected the week of 2/24. And someone on my other forum was told by phone that it may be 7 to 10 weeks before delivery, so who knows?!
