StudioCanal will release Blu-ray version of "Brotherhood of the Wolf" in France on 9/23/2008.
http://www.releaselists.com/BLURAYInternational.html

By the way, Universal will also release 2-disc director's cut DVD of "Brotherhood of the Wolf" in the United States on 8/26/2008. The full list of extra material has yet to be revealed. Hoping Universal will also announce its Blu-ray soon.

Hopefully they will correct the audio for that release. Studio Canal's HD-DVD had the higher pitched audio.

Please, no flames. Just speaking the truth. They will have to get a new audio track in order to have proper sounding 'sound' on this thing.

This isn't mentioned on the list of titles said to suffer from the pitch issue. What other titles have you noticed (which aren't on the list) that suffer from it?

List:
Basic Instinct
Elephant Man
The Graduate
Mulholland Drive
Rambo: First Blood
Rambo - First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Total Recall

I never physically owned the HD-DVD. But numerous people who did said it has there. And some said it wasn't. Much arguing went on over the issue.

This was not one of the titles that suffered from pitch issues. The soundtrack is excellent on the HD DVD release.

Agreed. The HD-DVD is fantastic. The Blu-Ray can only hope to be as good.

My fingers and toes are crossed. Now obviously it needs to have English subtitles as well. And how about subtitles that are not in a font the size of trucks?!

Dubbed is awesome?

Yuck. Had it been the original soundtrack I would have bought the D-Theater in a heartbeat.

I love the directors cut of this movie...Hope it contains a dts master audio track for the subtitled french language version ( If they want to include an english dub then so be it but i won't view that version )

Really great movie even though they change history in it.

Will it have english subtitles ?

My amazon.co.uk HD-DVD copy was not so great: lots of grain/noise in darker scenes. It is one of my worst HD titles PQ-wise.

I just watched this last night on HD-DVD. Looked fine to me. A bit of grain but still a very good picture...

Yah thats what i want....There should be grain in those darker scenes...It preserves the detail it means it hasn't been overly DNRed.

WTF? A movie that changed history? You're pullin' my leg!
Next you're gonna say Gladiator wasn't real history.

I thought the soundtrack was typical DTS, juiced to the max but I loved it.
I sensed no pitch problem at all.
To me, the HD DVD has some PQ issues but nothing that was too distracting to me besides this film is an all-time fav.
I'll very likely buy the BD as well.

It has grain? GOOD! I saw this in a theater and it was grainy as hell. That's the way it is supposed to be, thank you very much.

Wow! I had this HD-DVD release and didn't know it!! Man, I must have bought it, shelved it and never bothered to view it.

So last night I spent some time comparing it to the extended SD-DVD version i have and found that yes, grain was in-tact, resolution was visibly higher, even on a 47 inch set, compression artifacts were gone, color had more clarity and pop. It was just superbly improved over the dvd.

Now, it is not a top end title. But it looks like the film should look. I saw this in a theater and the images were not sharp as a tac.

Audio was great, with no ****ed up pitch.

So the BD is highly recommended. Heck, if the re-encode for a BD50 you might even have something nicer.

So, anybody have a comparison between the Blu and HD DVD on this title? One of my all-time favorites and looking to pick it up. Did they indeed include english sub-titles on the blu release and is it region locked? I'm here in NY so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Really? Man, I MUCH prefer the theatrical cut of the film. All the extra love story BS completely ruins the flow for me.

The French Blu has an initial menu with options of France or United Kingdom (so a release in the UK in future is likely with little changes).

The UK option has French DTS HD MA audio and English subtitles.

The France option has the same audio but no subtitles.

The movie runs 2h30m approx, so is probably the Director's Cut. I can't comment on region coding.

According to this site IMDB the UK edition features some scenes from the directors cut but removes other scenes.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0237534/alternateversions

I guess it's posisble the releasing company got the directors cut BBFC approved but i see no mention on the site and all that is mentioned is that in 2007 they submiited a re-edited version running around 137 minutes. It's very likely that the site has not got updated though so it may have another version not shown on the site but released.

150minutes might be the directors cut but i thought that ran 152 minutes ?

UK version on the French Blu-ray is not the UK edition as listed in the IMDB as those scenes are fully intact.
