Saw this release list that was just put out by Warner France on another forum. Hopefully the US mirrors the release dates or the titles are Region free-

Quote:

* 15 octobre 2008 : Beetlejuice
* Constantine
* Entretien avec un Vampire
* Génération Perdue
* Gremlins
* L.A. Confidential
* Les Goonies

Update June 25th-

Here is some more info on the Goonies-

Quote:

TrueHD 5.1 in English (remastered), commentary (with hidden video treasures) from Richard Donner and some cast members, making of, deleted scenes, videoclip (Cyndi Lauper) and trailer.

So L.A. Confidential is really coming this time? It's been rumored a couple of times. I just hope they get a James Ellroy commentary on there, because that would be a total hoot.

If that list comes true September is going to be expensive as I would have to pick up most of those.

Indeed. A beautifully shot film. Should look great if they don't screw the pooch...

Wait a minute...

I think we need to have a group petition for NO MORE DNR on these discs.

Will these French releases play on our BD players? I ask because overseas releases tend to have less DNR than U.S. releases.

I hate this. I could own SERPICO in "HD" if it wasn't for this. Do own an HD DVD of 3 DAYS OF THE CONDOR but I'll happily replace it with a subtitle-less BD whenever it comes out. It's a shame becuase 3 DAYS has a nice transfer IMO.

Warner owns the rights to these films in North America as well, so there is no reason these BDs would have forced french subs. The only reason some releases have them is that the studio releasing it only has the rights to release them in France or surrounding areas. This is to prevent loss of sales from the studios who have the rights to other regions.

Damn I hope they come out. But The Goonies is very overrated IMO. It can also be a bit camp at times too.

I just picked up the special edition Gremlins DVD from Best Buy this weekend for $4.99. Can't beat that. Haven't had a chance to view it yet but I bet they used the same Hi-Def source. Why would you need to have Gremlins in 1080p anyway? Upscaled DVD for $4.99 is all I need.

I don't know if a group petition would do any good, but excessive DNR on Interview with a Vampire would be horrendous. That is a beautifully shot film with lots of fine detail, but because of the grain in certain scenes I fear that DNR might be tempting, and with the DNR goes the detail. Facial details are especially important in this movie (veins in the face, etc.)

At the very least lets keep our fingers crossed.

You mean the Truffle Shuffle isn't supposed to be a serious dance move? Darn it!

Because Gremlins is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid and I want it in the highest resolution that I can get.

Why buy anything in 1080p for that matter? Why buy Blu-ray at all?

Maybe because most on this sight are videophiles and film buffs and want the best possible reproduction we can get. Currently 1080p on Blu-ray is the best we can get at home. And contrary to your opinion upscaled DVD isn't good enough for me.
