Thought I'd report back... BB accepted the printout without any issues. Definitely a nice deal.

At this pricing, the Blu-ray movies are about in line with the average retail costs of their standard-def counterparts, according to such outlets as Amazon.com.

Although troubled by a bankruptcy filing, Circuit City seems to be staying aggressive in its home entertainment merchandising through the month. The retailer has built a reputation for using standard-def DVDs as a loss leader to attract additional product sales.

These $8.99 deals, valid for Friday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 29, represent 60% off the titles' original pricing.

In nearly an impressive offering, regional mass merchant Meijer will roll out on Thanksgiving Day a wide range of $9.99 Blu-ray titles, representing releases from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, MGM Home Entertainment, among other studios. Discs featured in an ad circulating the Web include From Hell, Transporter 2, 28 Days Later, Behind Enemy Lines, Reign on Me, Click, Edward Scissorhands, The Devil Wears Prada, Speed and The Fantastic Four.

I read the $10 Transformers BR was an "early bird" item. What exactly does this mean? Is there a certain time frame you have on black friday to take advantage of this deal?

Yup. Probably 6 am - 11am (or 5-10, 7-12, something like that), only on Friday, where other movies may be on sale Friday and Saturday.

Yes but do not be surprised if competitor's pull the "We don't match "special" or one/two day pricing sales" line while you are trying to get a price match. I have had them use that on similar ads in the past.

Thanks. I guess we will just have to wait to read the add to know the exact times.

If you check out the disclaimers on the Black Friday ads - they actually do state that they will not do price matching that day. So they do have some basis for denying the price match.

Funny

I work one block away and pass in front of that specific BB at least 4 times a day, depending on how many Starbucks coffees I need

From the dates on the ads up now, it looks like their specials run from Thurs-Weds. I think you missed it. I don't have a Meijer near me, but I did click that link when it was first posted and the deal was definitely there. Not there anymore though.

I wanna grab M&C, but I can't find anything else on that list that I really want. That 16 bucks suddenly becomes 19 with shipping, which then puts it within a buck or two of prices elsewhere. Hmmm. Decisions decisions...Guess I'll dig through all those $3.99 and $4.99 DVDs to see what else is there.

Still, a good deal for those who are looking to build up their collection.

Rarely are black friday ads valid online. More often than not, there are separate online only deals...

You know the old saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure". While I do agree with you, many people buy movies for the same reason that people collect anything, it makes them feel good.

A guy used to live near me who had literally thousands of DVDs with many of them still in the shrink wrap never watched even once. It just made him feel good to have this massive video collection that he could go to any time he (or a guest) wanted to watch something.

Personally I won't even consider buying a movie that I won't watch at least a few times but many are not so choosy.

I used to be the same way. But HBO, and now streaming to my 360, it's much easier to just say no unless it's a bg favorite and I want the bonus features.

I was at the local Wal-Mart tonight and looked through the blu-ray section and found Stargate and one other movie for $10 each. Not sure if its national or not.
Its the first Blu-ray for me, and seems fitting since Stargate was the first DVD I bought.
