Wow Ricwhite, those images look pretty good to me! This is the series narrated by Attenborough correct? If yes, I've caught snippets of it in various AV stores for BR demo and I recall the video not only looking spectacular, but the film actually appearing to be an excellent documentary in its own right.

The deal on the set of discs themselves (Firefly series plus Kill Bill vol 1 & 2) is a steal until shipping is applied ($12). It's still a good deal even with shipping but there is some way to apply the promo code it would become a great deal...

i am in the us. i don't know what to tell you though. i noticed it yesterday, when i was thinking about buying sin city and FDTD. i forgot that i couldn't get free SS shipping in the US, but added another disc to the order, hoping to hit the FSSS limit.

when i got to the payment type screen, at the bottom, above where you would enter your GC/promotional code, it said "You have CDN$ 10.00 in gift certificates or promotional credit available for use toward this purchase. Would you like to apply it?". just tried it again and it says the same thing. then when i get to the final screen it says "Visa10off40 -USD 8.54". so maybe try that.

Thanks for the advise. Amazon.ca customer service took care of me. A good deal just turned into a great deal. I think I'm going to grab some more titles! Though I'm heavy into AV, I've been so tied up with work over the past couple of years that I've missed a lot of good, non-current movies so a lot of these titles that appear to be discounted relative to new ones will be new to me. Hopefully I don't go broke in the process...

Anyone seen any good deals on Eagle Eye? Loved it at the theater. Tempted to pull the trigger on this at Amazon for $26.
I unusually won't spend this kind of money on a movie but...

Sorry.

Here's the link to the Planet Earth screenshots. If you can find a deal on this set, it's well worth it.

Why is it every time I come to this thread all I hear is complaints about the pricing of blu-rays? If they are too expensive, don't buy them. Wait till prices come down. If you want to engage in corporate pricing strategy then go work in the head office of a large retailer or one of the studios.

& this is why BD will either be a very minute niche product or die altogether.

ps = IronMan, PE & TDK all were priced @ MSRP or above @ my local CC still. Nicely done smart business guys. Down the tubes u go.

Picked up a bunch of titles at Wal-Mart for $10/ea. They had all 3 Rambos, Terminator 2, Total Recall, Stargate, Crash, Casino, Reservoir Dogs, and Young Guns, Saw and Saw II. I picked up all except the Rambo and Saw films. Just can't resist any BD titles for $10 even each. This was in the Plainfield, IL Wal-Mart off of Rt 59. Just dove back into Blu Ray after selling my collection 6 mos ago to pay off some debt, needed to build up my collection again :-)

Thanks OP for posting the Firefly bluray deal. The 10off40 deal may only work with a new account. Also, for those interested, the Sunshine blu-ray at amazon.ca is only CDN$ 14.95.

Also noticed that Sin City on Blu-Ray is 12.95 on the amazon.ca site. So US blu-ray players (particularly a ps3) will have no problem playing this?

suffolk,
Best Buy had Eagle Eye for $26. I suspect that isn't the lowest price locally but you have to pay tax which may be offset by potential shipping costs.

Also the $9.95 is really only $8.08 because of the strength of the Greenback. On the flip side, I think us Canadians have pretty much stopped ordering anything from the U.S.

Those prices could very well be instore only and limit to specific stores in their chain.

Those prices listed are correct, I picked up Wall-E on Friday for $17.99, it's the 2-disc version and not the 3-disc (which is still $35). They never really put accurate prices on their website, always go in-store.
