I don't understand, you checked the Region compatibility but still bought Region B titles? I'm not sure what "locked" and "unlocked" means with regards to Blu Ray region coding. Are you going to decrypt the titles on your PC for playback or did you mod a player to be region free?

A lot of blu-rays will say they are region B but will still play on a region A player. The link someone else posted is the same site I use to check. If it says it's unlocked, it means it will play in any region player despite what the disc region coding is. If it says locked, then don't buy it as you won't be able to play it in a region A player.

Yes, I did still order it, because I'm planning on either modding my Panasonic BD55 and/or ordering the Oppo model (for a different room) once it becomes available. Either way, it will be a bit of a wait before I watch it

Edit: Wow, did not know the Oppo is to be region locked, I just assumed..... Maybe there will be a backdoor to do that anyways, hopefully.

HTPC - Intel Q9450, 3gb Ram, WD Raptor 150gb SATA, ATI 3870X2 via HDMI | HT - Sanyo Z3, Onkyo TX-SR605, Axiom M80's, VP150, M22ti's, Panasonic BD55, Toshiba HD-XA2, Oppo 983

OK thanks that explains buying the unlocked discs. onthejazz then were you going to decrypt the locked disc and stream it? or shrink it to dvd?
edit: nevermind I just saw your new post. But you know the OPPO BDP-83 will be region locked right?

Got Zulu, Predator 2 and Almost Famous from this...then also added Batman and Goonies to my order. It won't ship for 10 days or so because of Zulu, not Batman, which surprised me...I guess a lot of people are biting on Zulu as part of this sale.

I wonder if they will change (raise) the price on some of these before the B2G1 takes effect.

I found six out of all that's available, but nothing that I must have. Maybe they'll add a few more before the sale actually starts. Some of the newer Disney and Fox titles would be nice . . .

Hi. I'm new to this thread and to blu-ray. And I have a stupid question...

On these buy 2 get 1 free deals, if you buy 4, do you get 2 free, etc? Or is it strictly buy 2, get 1?

Thanks!

Added 2 more to this list....funny thing is this stuff is cheaper as imports from UK to U.S. than it would be to buy them new here in the U.S.

My final order: If I converted correctly it comes out to about $120 USD shipped...about $17.15 per movie. (Only the top 3 are part of the B2G1 deal).

Zulu
Almost Famous
Predator 2
Batman
Batman Returns
Hostage
Goonies

Yes, but you want to keep all the discs around the same price, as they will give you the lowest priced disc(s) free. So if you have 6 discs in your cart, 4 are at $27.99 and two are at $14.99, you'll get the $14.99 ones for free. If that's the case, split into two orders and put all the higher priced titles together, and the lower priced ones in another order.

Yeah, I've been looking for a deal on Sweeney Todd forever, but the only other one on that list that makes sense to pair with it would be Planet of the Apes, and I can't find a third one at that price. (I kinda want Black Mask even though I heard the transfer sucks, but I'm not going to buy 2 $25-$27 movies and have my free one be $13).

Think of a bday or xmas gift maybe for someone else in your family that has a BD player? Even though it'd be like you paid full value for the two you keep but that means the BD you give as a gift didn't 'cost' you anything....

Order it online and choose in-store pickup. That will give you the online price and you can make sure you reserve a copy before you go over the weekend.

It's also worth noting that MM is part of the Amazon B2G1 free sell, but it costs $25. Might be a good deal for you if there are a couple of other movies you might want from that sale.
