According to one of the deal sites, the Target ad for January 25th has the Bourne Trilogy for $64.99. Not exactly a great price, but it's the cheapest I've seen thus far.

Amazon no longer has a price guarantee, but they do have a fantastic return policy and they do have a pre-order guarantee so if the price goes down before the product ships out you get the lowered price.

He probably shouldn't have used the word 'price' in there, but the A to Z Guarantee is a comprehensive set of protections Amazon gives to buyers who use the Amazon Marketplace. I don't think you get those same protections when you purchase through other "fronts" to the marketplace, like the aforementioned blu-rayboxsets.com

Well, then might as well not pre-order since they'll have it for $65 release week.

Hopefully someone else can confirm that they will have it at $65 in their ad that week, maybe it was just a typo.

If it is $65 I will pick it up. $75 just seems to high for catalog titles, even if they are great ones.

Doubt it. I've been to several electronic liquidation sales over the years and there's rarely anything worth buying. It's usually for the people that don't know any better and think that 25% off MSRP is a great deal.

Thanks for the link, I just ordered Awake, the two Harold and Kumars, No Country for Old Men and Silent Hill, each for $12.99.

Also, looks like Amazon.ca shipped my Kill Bills and Sin City, guess Canada got SC before the US did.

Canada did - I too ordered SC from there along w/the Dark Knight which are both in transit and will end up costing me @$16 each in total!

Not a typo on my part. Listed at $64.99 on week of January 25th right here:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...31-2009-a.html

Very rarely is this forum incorrect with future ad prices, so I would trust that it would be that price during its release week. Regardless, $20+ per movie for catalog titles (albeit good ones) still isn't all that great, IMO.

My first instinct was to bite at this lower price, but when sets like Godfather and Band of Brothers dropped very quickly after release, I'm now inclined to sit it out and wait for a better deal. I'll bite if I can get them at less than $20/movie.

True. I paid $42 shipped for BoB which is a collector's set in a special case, etc. This set will probably be $39 within a few months.

My thoughts exactly. That's why I plan on waiting a few months as well. As much as I like the Bourne movies, I have a feeling that the price will drop soon enough, if we are patient.

I went to the CC liquidation sale in my hometown recently, and there were absolutely no deals. Even at "40% off" everything was significantly more expensive than you could find for it easily online. By the time it got to 60% off the only things left in the store were the shelves and some DVDs no one wanted. YMMV, but I was sorely disappointed.

The Circuit City website has been down for a while, with the message "We're updating the site with new products and special offers." Maybe they are planning a fire sale!

Their website is going down permanantly on the 18th I read somewhere so I wouldn't buy anything even if there was a sale.

"mulit-quote" wasn't working for me...can you tell?

Anyway, I've never heard of inetvideo.com.....are they reliable? Found it strange that they offered to add on insurance, atop the shipping charge. Cool with them accepting paypal, many sites now do....just didn't know their history.

thanks

They are. But in the future, we have a search within a thread at the top right side of the first post on each page. Using the name of the company would bring up numerous posts and would provide an answer to your question almost instantly.

Plus you know you are getting the real deal, free shipping over $25 (usually) and as you said a great return policy.

I had to return a few books in December. Amazon credited them right back. After about 40 days, I had to twist the arm of a marketplace seller to refund me (threatened them with neg feedback)

Best to stay with "real" sites like amazon, tower, b and n or even deepdiscount or inetvideo. It will cost you more in the end to be penny-wise and dollar-foolish.

With Circuit City now out of business and liquidators taking over their stores, I wonder how much the blu-ray's will be marked down. I believe the liquidation sales are starting as early as today so I'll have to check it out this morning.
