Redbox should be embarrassed by this. I'm happy they still continue to stock most major new releases on bluray (contra my earlier false alarm when that appeared to be ending). However to not stock the freaking BEST PICTURE WINNER on bluray when it comes out doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Art House flick. Even though it won an award it's still considered art house and they are afraid to sink too much money into art house. And there are a lot of people who didn't like the film.

"If you build it they will come.." Ok, what is this "It" you speak of and who, are they???! Do I want to know?...

At about $100,000,000 worldwide boxoffice .. ?? "Boyhood" did less than half of that yet the BD was stocked .. even "Vice" .. a junk film which I believe went straight to video gets BD stocked ..

It's available on Netflix for immediate shipment. I'm sure redbox looked at it, and if they thought it would be profitable they would have stocked it but sitting side by side with vice, i'd guess most people would choose vice before birdman.

It's next up in my Netflix queue after I return my current rentals so I'll see how it is shortly

Keaton delivers a line in "Birdman" pretty much to that effect .. not specifically toward "Vice" .. but to viewers tastes in general ..

I spaced out getting the BD of "Birdman" in my NF Q .. I dropped down to the one out plan a while back since it just did not seem much worthwhile material was coming out .. as well as the mailing slowdown which added an extra day or two shipping time for me .. I figured I'd make it up with RB occasionally .. oh. well .. the best laid plans and all that ..

anyone else having trouble finding Age of Ultron (Blu-Ray)?...doesn't seem to be available in my area or any other zip code I enter...seems like new Marvel releases always have this issue on Redbox...usually takes a few days to a week for it to show up

I've had that problem before at my one very isolated RedBox, but the new Avengers was available day 1 (yesterday) here.

In fact, I found a trick for reserving: it was not showing up on the main page first thing yesterday but could be found with a search and reserved. I'm not sure what causes the delay in being displayed. It's the featured title now. All checked out until I return mine.

Sicario from Redbox and no Atmos or Dolby True HD

Picked up Sicario from Redbox and no Atmos or Dolby True HD. Only DD. Redbox should note somewhere when they do this. This is annoying to say the least.

Blame Lionsgate, this is standard practice for their rentals.

Send a message via AIM to NightWolve
I'm a bit of a Redbox fan every now and then (well, when they text me a free code, heh!), although I must say I have no idea how for much longer they can stay in business given the Internet, streaming, easy downloads a few clicks away, etc.

On Sicario, wow, that was some ice cold killa no-hold barred stuff right here... Dang... Heck of a movie!

"Love The Coopers" blu-ray (Lionsgate) inside Redbox: has no extras & offers only a lossy Dolby Digital audio codec.

Redbox and UHD!

It probably wouldn't hurt if we shoot RedBox a few messages asking them to stock UHD discs. I don't know about you guys, but it would be nice to have a rental option! I don't want to have to buy every disc I watch. And yes, I know they barely stock Blu-ray. But maybe they could get ahead of the curve and start promoting UHD. Obviously a new widely accepted disc format is a good thing for their business model.

Everest have an Atmos or 7.1 soundtrack?

It's back!! Wine of the Week! Clos Martinet Tinto, Priorat DOCa, Spain ~$60. If you've not had a good Priorat, you've not truly tried Spain's smallest, yet most unique terroir.

Folks can suggest, but the chance of this happening in any foreseeable future is slim to none .. DVD still out rents and outsells BD .. UHD is way down the food chain ..

I seem to recall that the Everest BD from Redbox here (San Fran bay area) did have a Dolby Atmos soundtrack listed in the setup menu. Since I don't have a Dolby Atmos receiver, I cannot confirm that. But I can confirm it played Dolby TrueHD 7.1 - and had no extras.

Redbox has really screwed up their discount codes. A "Rent one, get one" code used to always be good for either 2 Blu-rays for the price of one or a single Blu-ray for 50 cents.

Now the codes mandate you not only have to get two discs but the second has to be a standard def DVD.

I've since returned it...sorry. Although it should be 7.1, I only noticed it wasn't Atmos encoded as had been other titles from Redbox.

"The Choice" - another Lionsgate lossy dolby digital disc provided to Redbox for rental. Fortunately the code knocked down the rental to $.55 - and I expect lossless audio would not mean much for this title - so - Lionsgate - stick it up the orifice of your "Choice"... :-)

Zootopia

Can someone tell me why Zootopia is nowhere to be found in the state of Colorado at Redbox. It's on their website, but when I try to reserve it I can't find it anywhere. Is this happening in other states?

I was just told Redbox didn't get their shipment/copies as expected this week. They indicated they should be stocked by next weekend.

August 16th, If I recall correctly from what I saw this morning on redbox.com . I went ahead and bought it.

Thanks Dave...I missed that somehow. I usually also check Family Video for those studios that Redbox doesn't want to pay. In some locations, Family Video offers 1/2 off promotions making it less than Redbox.
